How does your 10/11 month old play?

My son doesn't seem to play like other babies his age. Every toy is straight in his mouth, he'll take things out of other things but won't put them back in, he likes turning pages on books but does it too quick for me to really read the words, he'll knock blocks down but won't stack them, doesn't really use toys for intended purpose just mouths them, mainly just wants to furniture surf.

Other people's babies seem to play, put things in and out of baskets/boxes, use toys how they are intended, bang things together, find hidden objects. He does none of that really.

That sounds pretty normal. Some kids explore with their mouths, taste, texture, temperature etc. Or Is your ds teething?

My ds seldom used toys as intended, he liked making noise, and would use anything to make sound, regardless of what it was meant for. His favourite for months was a spoon run along the bars of the play pen.

He's like this pretty much constantly, so I'm sure sometimes he's teething but unless he's been teething constantly I think it's just how he plays

Both mine just pottered at that age. Dd is nearly 1 and can put rings on a pole and plays with a pop up toy with buttons she presses.

Most of the day she's crawling around with something in her mouth, knocking things over, taking things apart, annoying her 3yo brother greatly. Any directional play from me is quickly ignored, even the above toys I know she can do.

That's reassuring. I'm not sure whether I'm expecting too much from him.
