Baby sleeping bags.

What age to stop using a sleeping bag. DS is 1.5yo and VERY long. We have one 18-36 month sleeping bag that his toes are near the end of. Should I try and get him used to a duvet in this warm weather where it won't matter so much of he kicks it off?

Following with interest as I’m in exactly the same boat with my DD! She’s been going down with just a thin blanket recently as the weather has been so warm! We introduced a pillow a few weeks ago which has gone down well.

DS is 2.5 and we just stopped recently as he kept pulling them off. DD was nearly 3. They are both short so being to long was never a problem.

I tried a duvet tonight and the tantrum was hard but he settled in the end. Too much temptation to run around the cot. I am now dreading a toddler bed.

We love baby sleeping bags in our house!

I have a selection of aged 3y-6y (the largest you can get). Expensive but fantastic investment. Sleeping bags were the reason my four children stayed in their cot for ages.

Youngest stopped using her sleeping bag and went from cot to bed aged 4y6m ish.

I gave up with the bags at 18 months as dd is very tall and I always found them small. She had a toddler duvet and pillow. I tucked it in at the bottom of the coy so she wouldn't pull it over her head in her sleep. That didn't last but shes now 3.

Re: Toddler pulling sleeping bag off

Firstly, from 6 months upwards always but the zip-up-the-middle type (that go on like a sleeveless cardigan) rather than the type with shoulder poppers. Toddler will soon learn how to pop open those poppers and slither out.

They come with zip-locks to stop unzipping. But if the toddler is unzipping their sleeping bag- put it on backwards with the zip up their back instead of their stomach.

Stopped at 18 months here now two and already in toddler bed. Hates the duvet but loves a blanket.

Mine was 2.5 and she shouted EVERY time her duvet fell off so I'd wait until they are in a big bed with a bigger duvet next time.

Seems like this is a good age to get him out of it then. 🤞 he fights a bit less tomorrow. DSS was much older out of a sleeping bag. He was 2.5-3 ish and in a toddler bed before we got a duvet. He was a lazy little thing tho who never tried to move in his sleeping bag. DS is the polar opposite and I suspect his bedroom will contain nothing but the bed when we make that leap! Otherwise there will be carnage.
