to try and get some help with his bed wetting which is still every night.

What am I likely to be asked - how long after seeing the Dr. can I expect things to start "happening" with regards to help poor DS1??

no advice, just wanted to say good luck. My 5.5 yr old DS is the same and have been told to wait.

how's bub?

we got an appointment straight away but it wasnt for another 3 mths, we went through school nurse rather then doc. at the first appointment we had to keep a diary for 2 weeks, saying what time she had her last drink before bed, what it was, what time she went to bed, if she was dry at our bed time and if she was dry in the morning. we also had to say if she had done a small amount or large amount of pee. they gave us lots of info aswell. we went back two weeks later where we were offered tablets as she is not making a hormone. unfortunatly dh had taken her and even though we had said to go for the tablets he decided to wait another month just to see if it kicks in by itself! so we have an appointment in a month or so and the only hting they have told us to do is continue the diary and reward her when she doesnt wet, which she unfortunatly has never managed.

Just wanted to say, I went this week to normal GP with my DS (who is nearly 8). The GP wasn't that interested really. Did a urine check (which DS found hilarious, weeing into the dish!) for infection - and felt around his abdomen a bit.
Then asked us to limit his liquid intake (Nothing after about 6.30pm) which kind of conflicted with other advice I have had.
Suggested star chart! (actually I think DS is a bit old for stickers) and we have to go back in a month if no improvment.
We have limited the amount he drinks all week - but I'm not that happy about this, as we encourage both the DC to drink loads of water throughout the day. But perhaps it will help - kind of think it will improve the bedwetting, but only because he hasn't been drinking.

MrsBoo - if my Dr.s gives us the same advice as yours I'll tell him where to go - he's only drinking water these days (at last ), doesn't usualy have a drink any closer than 1hr (give or take a little) before his bedtime, and I can tell him already when he's wet and how much (drenched ).

And sticker chart???? We've tried every "bribe" under the sun for him so I doubt stickers would work lol

Yea, well I wont be rushing back to that particular Dr in a hurry.
Thing is my DS isn't a bit botherer by it - he is a very deep sleeper - doesn't really get over to sleep until about 10ish most nights, and then really deep sleep. Sometimes in the mornings he is wet, sometimes dry (though it would never waken him - he would sleep through it). There is no pattern to it. It could be once a week dry, or only once a week wet!

We use dispoable bedmats, or washable bedmats over his sheets. He isn't bothered so I suppose I shouldn't be either. If he is staying over at relatives, or we are at hotel etc, i just pack the bedmats too.

DS1 "says" he's not bothered by it - but I'm not sure tbh. He's wet EVERY night, we don't bother with bedmats......as I still have to wash the duvet cover and pillow case - so an extra sheet in with it is no big deal.
