Naps for 3 month old ?

Hi I probably sound really thick and asking a daft question but regarding my nearly 3 month olds daytime naps, does he do what he is doing currently and just fall asleep himself or do I myself pick and put him down?

Thanks

Be led by baby. If hes well settled by falling asleep himself then carry on doing what you are doing. My baby is 12 weeks and wont self settle yet so we hold him till he sleeps. X

Do I need a schedule? Or a time he can’t sleep past and how long he should sleep for? X

It’s up to you and your baby! We like routine so bought the Little Ones program and really like it. We wanted some structure and for our baby to be as independent as possible with sleep. It didn’t involve any crying out either 👍🏼

Ours is a little older than youR baby and wakes at 7, naps 9-10, naps 12-230, naps 430-5 and bed at 7. He sleeps 7-10pm, has a dream feed and then gets through til morning. We’ve been in this routine from about 3 months. I realise I’m very lucky with the nighttime!

Mine had absolutely no schedule at that age. She only really developed a nap routine after 6 months. Now nearly 10 months and usually naps really well. I wouldn't worry about it, just go with whatever works for him and you.

Never had any routine or schedule until 6 months and I would do it exactly the same again.
Let baby take the lead and sleep as and when they want

Won’t their naps affect how they sleep through the night?

Oh god if he is falling asleep on his own, unassisted, then go with it - it's the dream!

I found under 1, the better they napped in the day (I.e more), the better they slept at night. An overtired baby has crappy night time sleep.

Start looking for sleepy clues at around the 60-90 mins awake point. Change bum, feed, burp, and put down to sleep. Whatever time he wakes, restart the mental timer on that 60-90 mins.

At that age I really found absolutely no correlation between day time naps and night time sleeping, it wasn't until DS was much older that they started to have any impact.

But I do believe the 'sleep breeds sleep' to an extent
