Hi all. Panicking a little bit!

We have a blow up pool in the garden and decided to put 14 month old DD in there to have a splash and cool off. The water came up to her belly. My partner was holding her under her arms but she slipped out of his grip and fell under the water! She was completely submerged for about two seconds (felt like two hours though!)

She didn’t cry or even cough when we pulled her out, just looked a little shocked! But she wanted to get right back into the water 🤦🏻‍♀️ She seems absolutely fine. It happened about an hour ago and she’s had a drink, eaten her dinner and gone to bed since. I’ve checked on her a few times and listened to her breathing ect and it sounds normal. But I’ve done what I shouldn’t have and googled secondary drowning and I’ve now scared myself absolutely silly Sad

She will be fine! You pulled her out and she is breathing normally. Probably just had a bit of a shock.

She’ll be fine. Has she never toppled over in the bath? Both of mine did that a few times and were perfectly fine.
You were there and she was out in seconds

She'll be fine. Have you not seen the baby swimming lessons where they constantly dunk them? I was dunking mine from 6w old. They're still alive.

Sounds fine to me, just a bit of shock

babysnowman · 20/05/2020 19:10

She will be fine

I would doubt she was under for even two seconds. If you think how much tot's splash and go under water for brief moments at the swimming pool even when held and they are all fine. I don't think secondary drowning would be a factor in this case as she was under for a split second.

She will be completely fine. We did Water Babies and DS was dunked from 4mo. He loves swimming now and has no fear of having his face in the water.

Ex baby swimming instructor- she'll be fine! Babies can hold their breath easily under water (with proper lessons usually though 😂) Maybe you've got s natural swimmer on your hands ☺️

Thank you all, feeling a bit less panicked now! 😂 @justanothernameonthewall, after initially looking a bit shocked she wanted to get right back into the water, so clearly it didn’t phase her! Grin

She’d probably not even taken a breath by the time she was pulled up again.

I’ve had incidences like this with both my two, and like you, googled it and scared myself silly, I even slept on a pull out on their bedroom floor as I was so worried about it. They were both fine, just wanted to say you aren’t alone in the google and panic Flowers

Lavenderpurple · 20/05/2020 19:38

She will be fine. We’ve done swimming lessons with dd since she was 3 months old and she regularly got dunked under (not at 3 months though, I must add).
