Child's farm for toddler eczema?

Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck with child's farm moisturiser on their toddlers eczema?

We've been prescribed all creams from doctors including steroid cream and nothing seems to work (we only use the non bio washing powder and the white baby fabric softener we have always used since he was tiny)

Have heard good reviews on the child's farm brand, has anyone got their personal views and experience?!

Thank you so much!!!Smile

Child's Farm has been fine. Definitely hasn't made it go away but doesn't make it worse either! We use Aveeno day-to-day and when ds gets a flare up I apply a bit of steroid cream. I find the steriod cream is the only thing that really works when its bad.

I use Child's Farm bubble bath and that is fine for DS.

For washing powder, I use a brand called Surcare which is recommended for ezcema or very sensitive skin (it doesn't wash as effectively as regular washing liquids though sadly! But works well with his skin)

Yes we use the childs farm fragrance free moisturiser and my dd's eczema has disappeared. She didnt have it really bad but she did have a few bad patches on the crooks of her elbows and back. We still dont use bubble bath for her at all and use the childs farm 2in1 hair and body wash also and so far it has stayed away

I've found their moisturiser really good. Dd1 had terrible eczema as a baby though is starting to grow out of it now. It has to be the baby moisturiser one with the duck and teddy on it though x

Yes, DS had it all over his legs, used child's farm moisturiser for a few days and it was gone. Now only have to use it occasionally if he has a flare up and it's gone again.

I never liked Child’s Farm. Much preferred Aveeno Baby soothing relief moisturiser. It’s much thicker and moisturises much better.

Colouringinbook · 20/05/2020 11:29

I found it made it worse. Aveeno and Oileatum have been good for us.

Pickles31 · 21/05/2020 08:18

My little one didn’t get on with child’s farm so we tried aveeno oat baby wash it comes in a box and is a bit pricey but works really well. Cream wise we were prescribed epimax which is good for putting in the bath water also

CCW86 · 27/05/2020 19:38

We were recommended to bath our DS with a handful of aqueous cream mixed in with the water and had worked wonders. It’s also really cheap and comes in a giant tub so even better. We also use child’s farm when he has small flare ups which seems to work. Both me and DH have both suffered with poor skin throughout the years so glad we have found something that works with DS from the start

I can't comment on eczema but my baby gets sore skin in his chubby folds, especially in his neck and the child's farm nappy cream is the only thing that seemed to clear it up!

Digestive28 · 27/05/2020 19:46

We found less is more...so don’t bath every day and when do bath try and have just warm water

Flamingolingo · 27/05/2020 19:52

Plenty of people love it but I hate it. I seem to be allergic to it, I think it’s the grapefruit oil or whatever is in it. I would probably ditch the fabric softener on your clothes - I can’t wear clothes with softener in them, it destroys my skin!

ScarfLadysBag · 27/05/2020 19:57

It's fine for normal use but doesn't work when DD has a flare up. Dermalex works for that but it's really expensive!

ScarfLadysBag · 27/05/2020 19:58

I think everything works differently for everyone though. It's sometimes just a case of trial and error. Aveeno night balm is good too.

jenniuol · 27/05/2020 20:03

Agree that everyone finds different things work for them/their child. Childs farm moisturiser did literally sweet F.A for Ds but aveeno baby has been excellent 🤷🏻‍♀️ After one use the difference was remarkable. Childs farm moisturiser did nothing but their shampoos/body wash stuff has been ok for him.

mylittlesandwich · 27/05/2020 20:10

DS has what I think to be very mild eczema. I'd have it diagnosed but I'd rather avoid the doctors at the moment. Child farm bubble bath made it much much worse so we went back to plain water. We use Childs farm baby oil regularly and it makes such a difference.

Decmum19 · 27/05/2020 20:13

We originally used Child's Farm bubble bath and moisturiser on my DD but she had a terrible reaction and suffered from dry skin. We went to Boots and they recommended Aveeno which has been great and totally cleared it up. It's apparently used by quite a few parents.

Wolfiefan · 27/05/2020 20:19

I agree with the PP who said different products work for different people.
You need to find the right emollient. And use it LOTS. That means both plenty of it and very frequently.
Use a higher strength steroid if you can get it if flare ups are extreme. Or a lower dose one if appropriate. Don’t be scared of steroids.
Watch out for MI. In lots of liquids. Probably the softener and any liquid detergent. Many people with eczema are allergic to it.
And using the products you’ve always used? They can change ingredients and people can develop allergies.

Kittywampus · 27/05/2020 20:27

It's a case of trial and error I'm afraid - different creams seem to work for different children. Child's farm seems to be recommended on lots of forums so it is probably worth a try.

Moo Goo has been good for DS
