Nearly 7 month old refusing bottle!

What a crazy morning.

She normally has 16-20oz of formula during the day. She can't drink much at one go so I wake her up for night feed. Most times she drinks the whole bottle. 4oz. She sleeps at 8 and feed at 11 and 3/4 am.

She normally has about 3/4oz at 7:30. But for the last few days she keeps moving away from the bottle.

Last night I didn't give her a feed at 3/4 hoping she will drink the morning bottle but this morning she still refused her bottle.

For breakfast I wanted to give her egg and it was just one of those mornings and egg refused to boil.

I tried 3 times and it was runny in all!

In the end gave her porridge which she just spat out.

She took a nap at 9:30 and drank about 2oz.

I'm so lost at what to do.

We have been struggling with feeding since birth.

I feel like I have aged 100 years and this is just first baby. FTM

Anyone else experience this? Does it get easier?

:((((

Sorry for any grammatical mistakes. I'm very tired!

I wouldnt be waking her to feed in the night. Could she be teething? If she drinks less formula then give extra dairy products to make up for it

Mine (now nearly 10 months) goes through phases like this where she will literally refuse all milk, sometimes she will take 2oz. If you show her the bottle she will cry and push it away. I wouldn't force it but I also wouldn't be waking her at night to offer extra milk. If shes hungry in the night she will wake. If your baby is drinking less than 1/2 a pint of formula a day you're supposed to give vitamins I think? You can also top up the calcium by feeding yoghurt and cheese.

Mine's back to draining 4 bottles a day at the moment as well as 3 meals. Think she must be gearing up for a growth spurt.

You're doing great and it will get easier! It's nearly always a phase.

Have you weighed her and measure her? Is she following her centiles, bright and alert at times and meeting her milestones? If the answer is yes to all of this, I wouldn't walk her for feeds either.

Also agree that if she's having less than 20 floz a day, she needs a multivitamin.

If she's always struggled with feeding, does she have any allergies or tongue tie?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the replies.

I haven't been able to get her weighed or measured because of lockdown.

Last weight was in Feb and she was doing ok.

She doesn't have any allergies or tongue tie.

She just can't seem to have more than 4oz at one time so I feed every 3 hours as doctor said she needed at least 24oz.

Started solids and she is having 3 teaspoons. But this morning she refused to have breakfast.

I just feel a bit overwhelmed.

Husband can't seem to find full fat yoghurt so I'm using plain greek yoghurt. Don't know if that will help?

What other calcium food can I give her?

She keeps pulling and touching her ear so I have an app with gp tomorrow and will ask her about vitamins.

Pulling and touching ear can be a sign of teething......

I can sense from your post that you're overwhelmed

I'm sure your gp will settle things tomo........try not to overthink things, just try to tag team as much as poss x

Perhaps consider this book. We used it with success.

It's around 20oz from 6 months. Milk in cereal, yoghurt, cheese would all count towards that intake.

And if they are having less than 500mls (around 17oz) they should get a supplement of vitamins A,C and D.

Greek yoghurt is absolutely fine 🙂

Thank you all for the comments and advice. It makes such a big difference to share and have people listening and giving advice. I have read all and will also discuss matter with gp tomorrow. Thank you so much.

Thank you JiltedJohnsJulie - husband insists he can't find the full version so will use this for the time.
