Omeprazole Advice

DS has Solent reflux (7 weeks old) and we were prescribed Omeprazole after a few weeks of Gaviscon not working and a trip to A&E after he’d been screaming for hours.
We can hear him swallow and then cry in pain, and it’s awful. He’s not getting into a decent sleep because of it, so cat naps through the day.
My reservation is about how hard of a drug it is and if I really want to medicate him at this age.
No judgements for anyone who uses it, I’m just super nervous. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I should point out he doesn’t cry all the time, but it definitely happens on a daily basis.

@happyface42 I’m so sorry for the late reply, I didn’t get a notification.
To cut a very long story short, DS was on it for a couple of months maybe but as they put on so much weight quickly when they’re that small, his dosage didn’t keep up with his weight and so in effect we started weaning him off it within about 8 weeks.
He was absolutely fine coming off it and no longer has eczema flare ups linked to dairy.
There was an awful 2 weeks when we were on Neocate and he was refusing all bottles (he’d been on it for 4 weeks at this point) so I just thought “my baby’s not starving, sod this” and went back to his Hipp. Took a while to get him convinced bottles weren’t awful again but we got there.
He’s now nearly 14 months and not a fussy eater and doesn’t have any flare ups to food and has been discharged by his dietician.

It’s such a tough journey for anyone going through it but you do come out the other side xx

Hi just been catching up on all your experiences very interesting. I am having a horrendous time with my 6 week old we been to gp hospital and dietician and just not getting any improvement. He is suffering so much with j think silent reflux but currently on milks to rule of cmpa. Gaviscon didn’t worn for us either and he been on tablet form of omezerprole and no change and go has increased dosage today. Did you all see results quickly or find things eased on the higher dosages I feel he is worse on feed that he has the medicine so debating stopping it, he also on milk with zero cmp in it x
