Baby with thrush / using cloth nappies

As far as I know 60 degree washes won't kill yeast infections which can still live in cloth.

I'm thinking that I should sanitize the clean nappies in Milton or Goldshield and then put them away until her infection has been clear for 2 weeks? And use disposables for now?

Anyone have experience of this?

My DS had a fungal infection recently, I feel your pain!

I take it that you're treating the thrush, but you'll need to santise the nappies after every wear, plus anything that comes into contact with baby's bum (towels, flannels at bathtime, cloth wipes, etc).

You are right, a 60 degree wash isn't hot enough. You can do 90 degrees on your inserts and boosters, but anything with PUL/elastics in needs to be sanitized with bleach.

Sanitize instructions:
www.google.com/amp/s/cleanclothnappies.com/strip-sanitise-instructions-uk/%3famp

They have an in machine method that they are trialling for the UK, if you join the clean cloth nappies Facebook group, the admins would help you out with it.

I switched to disposables until the fungal rash had been treated, I couldn't be bothered with sanitizing every wash, I just did all his towels at 90.

Good luck! Fungal rashes are hard to shift.

UV light kills thrush too so when we were struggling with a drawn out period of infection I did vinegar in with the wash, hanging nappies outside for at least 24 hours, and I did go onto disposables for a while in the end.

Also don't forget to treat every possible location - nipples and babies mouth being the other likely ones, outside you can just get stuck in a cycle of reinfecting each other (if you are breastfeeding of course). Vinegar on the nipples and wandering around naked helped (lockdown is at least a good time for this!)

I've tried switching her onto disposables and have bleached her all in one nappies etc. So I've switched back onto flats and covers because the flats can be washed at 90.

The anti fungal cream the doctor gave me is just not working though so I'll have to call tomorrow. Every time she does a poo it seems to start bleeding 😢

Sorry meant to say that the disposables seemed to be making the problem worse instead of better and her bum became hot to touch.
