......babyboo was lying in a wet puddle this morning .
The bedding was soaked through to the mattress.

Have I done something wrong? I didn't prewash it so thinking this might be a factor?

Nappy peeps????

Are you sure the nappy was completely inside the wrap? If I leave a couple of mm poking out it causes catastrophic leaks.
I don't think they need prewashing but I have never bought a new one so someone else may be best to advise you on that!

It was more a case of the entire nappy area that she was lying on being soaked through...like the pressure had caused it to ooze (which is kind of what I thought would happen)

I did tuck in the nappy all around. It was a bumhugger, so maybe it's not the best combination?

Her mattress has a plastic cover on it as well, so no-where for moisture to evaporate?

you might find the childs pyjama bottoms are a bit clammy on the outside but shouldn't be a vast puddle, esp with a bumhugger. honestly can't remember if you need to prewash fleece wraps, but have some fleece nappies that need loads of washes before they work well so definitely would recommend washing and trying again.

once you've cracked it, fleece wraps and bumhuggers are a great combi for night IMHO!

You need oodles of boostering, preferable on the bit she lays on. The rainbows aren't best for night tbh, the red ones are thicker.

CaptainFlameSparrowWifeOfJack · 19/09/2007 09:21

Oh, bumhugger was useless for me at night

daisyandbabybootoo · 19/09/2007 09:30

la la la I'm not listening...

My bumhuggers are quite new so maybe not up to speed on absorbency as they've only been washed three or four times?

I have a redwrap coming from ebay...so will see how I go with that.

Loving the name change btw Flame

I've found that the problem with fleece and wool is that if they are in one place for too long then the weight of them does make the wee go through the wrap. I would try a pul wrap like a rikki or onelife wrap overnight - bumhuggers will be fine overnight with a pul wrap.

evilreturns · 19/09/2007 09:33

i LOVE bumhuggers for night!!

didn't know there was a difference between rainbow and red wrap though...

def wash bumhugger some more too. i have an absolutely ancient one that looks dreadful but works fab

CaptainFlameSparrowWifeOfJack · 19/09/2007 09:36

Wool and fleece breathe so much more though - I never use PUL for night now and have no wet issues unless he is in a tight babygro (she wasn't was she?)

The rainbow wraps are just a single layer of fleece with an extra layer down the middle, but the red ones are slightly thicker and a double layer all over (or they used to be anyway).

Tis pirate day, hence the name me hearties

I used to use a bumhugger/fleece combo for night (now use wool wraps) and had slightly damp pj's a couple of times but never a puddle of wee. red wrap definitely thicker. also maybe you need to put an extra booster in the bumhugger, the built in one isnt enough for my dd
