11 week old frantically chewing hands

The last week or so my 11 week old has started to frantically chew his hands. He does it mostly in his crib at bed time. Hes not hungry as had a full feed. I have noticed hes just started to recognise his own hands this week too. Anyone else had this? Could it be a growing spurt. Hes eating and sleeping more than usual. X

My daughter is 13 weeks old and she's constantly got her hands in her mouth. She started about 4 weeks ago. She holds her hands in front of her face, stares at them for a while and has a good chomp.

From what I can notice, she's exploring with her mouth and realising she has control of her hands and can move them about. They're like her favourite toy at the moment 😂
I do think it could be a bit of teething too. Although teeth haven't come through (and probably won't just yet), she is dribbling alot when she's had a good chewing session, and occasionally gets frustrated with herself and her hands. She did have a growth spurt around 10/11 weeks too

That sounds just like my boy. He holds his fists up to his face then shoves them in his mouth. He can be so aggressive sometimes it's so adorable watching him staring at his hands. He also dribbles loads. Thank you x

Could he be teething Laylor? Have you had a look or a quick feel to see if there are any teeth about to appear?

He could also be starting to teethe.

Teething at 11 weeks surely not. Wish he would slow down. I'll check inside his mouth when he wakes up from his two hour snooze. Thanks guys. x

It is a developmental stage. Wait a few weeks and he will be chewing his feet

It’s totally normal for them to do this, he has found his hands and wants to explore them and his mouth is his best way to do that, once he realises he can grasp and put things to his mouth everything will be in there!
