Hello, this is my first thread on this website, I’m looking for some positive stories from other parents/guardians.
My son Archie James is 24 months gone April. He loves to play with me or on his own. Some times he plays with others sometimes on his own, he doesn’t point at all and says around 4 words (mama, dada, baba, gaga). He has Great eye contact, sometimes responds to his name. If I was to tel him it’s time to put shoes on he knows what it means/bath time/juice time.
He loves looking through books and listening to stories before bed.
In the first 18 month I admit I let Archie watch a lot of tele. Now I’ve limited to an hour a day. Could this have delayed him? I have heard that tv can delay.
Please if you have a story or have any information for me I would be so grateful!
I can’t sleep, feel sick. With the lockdown at the minute there’s a delay in seeing the HV. As soon as we can I’m going to ask for a referral.

Thank you to anyone who replies, if you need to know anything else please ask x

I forgot to mention he claps his hands and waves bye bye. He also loves me singing songs to him and playing peek a boo and loves playing tag

There is no evidence that TV delays anything, none of what you said particularly rings any bells, if you are concerned though maybe contact your HV? I'm sure they can offer some support.

Hi, my DD is a bit younger than your son but also has some delays. My best advice would be to speak to your GP and HV to arrange referrals to a paediatrician, who will assess your son and either put your mind at rest or investigate any issues.
Obviously nothing will happen quickly at the moment but I would keep giving him a variety of activities during the day (books, crafty things, walks etc) to keep stimulating his brain in the meantime.

Hi @CharlotteL23 my daughter is the exact same age as your little boy. She is at the exact same point also. she only has roughly 11 words, won't point but brings things to me.
To out your mind at ease she didn't watch much TV I am an early years teacher so you didn't cause this.

I am also worried about her, she has been referred for a speech and language assessment and I am keeping a close eye on her. Hopefully it is just a language delay
