Late Teether - any reassurance?

My daughter has just turned one (11 months corrected as she was early),

She still doesn't have any teeth. I think I can see them from the front of her gums, but no sign of them cutting through.

The dentist obviously can't see her at the moment.

I worry about this every day, in case there is something wrong but also in case this holds her back with eating or speaking.

Does anyone have any reassuring stories about their little ones?

Have you ever seen a school aged child with no teeth? Or even a pre school age child? Probably not, and neither have I despite having worked with small children for many years. Nor have I ever heard of it being considered that children with speech or eating difficulties were late teethers.

Your baby will grow her teeth, and she will be fine. Smile

Mine didn’t cut her first tooth until 9m and then teethed very slowly not getting her last tooth until 3.2! Had a couple of dental check ups during this time be they weren’t at all concerned, just said she was on the later side of things, but fine. By contrast my nephew and my DD cut their final tooth in the same week - as I said, she was 3.2, he was 23months! We actually thought he would beat her to being fully toothed despite being tonnes younger at one point. Our family were even taking bets on who would finish first (and not many of them were on our DD!)

My DC2 is almost 2 years old. On his 1st birthday I have a picture of him with only 1 tooth. He currently has top & bottom molars on both sides. He has 4 teeth on the top at the front & 4 teeth on the bottom at the front. The ones in between are yet to make an appearance. 🤷‍♀️
What I'm trying to say is; he will get his teeth. I know it's hard when they aren't getting their teeth & their peers are.

Both my DCs were late getting teeth (so was my brother) so I fully understand the worry.

DS was 15 months when he got his first tooth, he is now 4 and has them all. Someone told me (not sure how true it is) that later teethers have stronger teeth.
