Dummies 🙄

Hi everybody. My little boy is 21 months and currently has a dummy just for night time and sleep time (occasionally he finds one in the day and sneaks it in). However, this week we've lost 2 whilst we've been out on our daily exercise leaving me with two left. I just went online to order some more but something stopped me. For ages now I've been wanting to get rid of the dummy, I hate seeing it in his mouth I just really don't want it affecting his teeth or his speech. I've been putting it off getting rid of them because I don't want a bad night's sleep but this is something I might have to face 😂😩. I understand its his comfort but he does have a bunny which he takes everywhere as comfort. I'm not saying I should be getting rid of them I'm saying id like to get rid of them. I'm thinking to bite the bullet and when I've lost these 2 they're gone forever 😂. Has anybody else got any tips or experiences?? I think hes too young to understand the dummy fairy yet I've tried asking him to put them in the bin but he says no 😂

We got rid of my DS’s dummies at exactly the same age, 21 months. He was too young for the dummy fairy so we just got rid of them and told him he didn’t need them anymore. He already had a comforter he was very attached to as well, so if your DS doesn’t have one it might be worth introducing a special teddy or blanket etc.

I’m sure it’s not so easy for everyone but my DS honestly didn’t bat an eyelid. I made sure he was extra tired before bedtime the night we went cold turkey and he dropped off after maybe an extra 5/10 minutes and never mentioned his dummies again.

We ditched the dummy the first week of lockdown because it just seemed to disappear of the face of the earth!

DD2 is 26 months! We just said no more dee, dees are gone now (what she called them). She whined for 40 minutes the first night before falling asleep, 20 minutes the 2nd night and by the third night she accepted it. We've had some nights where she's woken up and just cried, refused to sleep and wanted to cuddle too so we decided to drop her naps too and since there have been no issues..

We are on week 4 off no dummy little one is 17 months and I thought I would have to do a few sleepless nights etc but she slept right through the first night and every night since got my partner on bored for first night set ourself up for some tantrums etc crying for hours before going to sleep etc but she did cry but nothing major just a few winges and settled herself down! She's even been teething the past 2 weeks and still not batted a eyelid for it! X
