Nicest babygrows!

HarrietM87 · 01/05/2020 15:06

I have lots of friends with new babies and am pregnant myself. Was wondering which shop people think has the nicest babygrows/sleepsuits/onesies? (Softest, and cutest patterns). We had lots of John Lewis ones last time and they were nice and washed well but maybe not the softest. I love a cuddly new baby in a baby grow and am looking forward to buying them again!

Following as this would be handy to know Smile

I like the Mamas and Papas sleepsuits in multipacks, which wash incredibly well, as well as coming in a variety of cool designs. You can also rely on M&P to have loads of unisex pieces, foregoing the shades of baby pink and blue you so often see at other brands.
Marks and Spencer’s are also good. They can be washed and tumble-dried a zillion times and always soft. Plus, there’s always one coloured popper so you know where to start fastening from. Clever.

M&S for high street. Wash really well.

For quality, JoJo Maman are wonderful. Soft, wash well, and just feel like a different world. Not bad price wise in the sale but I would rather have a few of these than lots of cheaper ones.

I would imagine John Lewis are good but don't have any to compare, though their sleeping sacks are brilliant.

That’s really good to know @bookish83 - the Jojo ones look lovely online but I haven’t seen them in real life. Might invest in a few since this next baby will have so many hand me downs otherwise!

I liked the ones from next, really nice quality

PrayingandHoping · 01/05/2020 16:35

Jojo are my favourite. They wash really well whereas other makes loose quality after a while

bookish83 · 01/05/2020 16:38

@HarrietM87

I wish I had bought more! They are so soft and the quality is totally different to supermarket ones especially. Do really rate M&S though.

Sadly we do not need any more sleepsuits until the bigger sizes so it feels a waste.

We are yet to use Next clothes but have some in bigger sizes and the designs are lovely x

TeddyBeans · 01/05/2020 16:38

Boots do lovely baby clothes. My son was pretty much solely in boots clothes until he went into 6-9 months

Quitthat · 01/05/2020 16:40

Got some gorgeous joules ones as a gift for my first. They've lasted well.

I tend not to buy the more expensive ones for myself, but as gifts to others would buy from jojo or JL, as they're good quality.

In terms of soft everyday things though, for wanting cheap but decent, soft quality, I go to sainsburys. Had a few great packs from there. Nice colours pop up occasionally, they are a good fit for my babies (not too long, not too wide), and they wash well.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 01/05/2020 16:41

I like the designs from Next- lasted fine Too

SuziGeo · 01/05/2020 16:43

We got a couple of multipacks from Next and they were our favourite. They were worn alot and the washed well. I was pleasantly surprised by Asda too, nice patterns and lasted better than some of the more expensive things we bought.

Megan2018 · 01/05/2020 16:44

NEXT, John Lewis and M&S are my favourites.
I dislike JoJo actually, didn’t wash well and faded quickly.
I also have some great ones from Sainsbury’s, they are generous fit and good over cloth bums like my DD. Brilliant value.

HarrietM87 · 01/05/2020 16:44

Thanks for all the replies! Good to know re Sainsbury’s. I haven’t tried those but my son had a few from Asda that washed really badly.

I found the Next ones quite gendered, which weirdly I find ok for girls but got so sick of trucks and dinosaurs for my son. But maybe I didn’t look hard enough, and I’m having a girl this time so maybe will be ok anyway.

Next and M&S I've found do the best baby grows. If I had to choose, I would say that Next's are softer.

ThatsWhatHeroesDo · 01/05/2020 16:45

My Next babygros always washed beautifully. Their white vests survived 2 DCs and are still bright white and good enough to be handed down too.

whatswithtodaytoday · 01/05/2020 16:52

I've found Next to wash best and stay soft. They have more not-so-gendered designs online - my high street store is a sea of pink and blue 🙄 but I got some lovely green ones for a friend recently.

Nanasueathome · 01/05/2020 16:53

My children are all grown up now but I always used to buy Absorba
Have seen them in TKMaxx and have bought for my grandchildren

They’re also stocked in Harrods

cacaca · 01/05/2020 23:14

Next - have had in every size so far. They keep so well. We were gifted some White Company and loved them - felt so soft and just so nice. Quite pricey - more expensive for 1 than for a 3 pack from Next.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 01/05/2020 23:23

Definitely Next, they have some really lovely designs. So much so that I would have favourites and trawl through eBay looking for them in bigger sizes once he’d outgrown them! 😄
I wasn’t keen on Asda ones as they didn’t wash well or Jojo which surprised me.

coffeeforone · 01/05/2020 23:25

The plain white ones from Sainsbury's are very soft. M&S are very soft too.

Next do the best patterns.

Jojo some lovely patterns and best quality but too expensive to bulk buy.

LoisSangerAteMyHamster · 01/05/2020 23:32

I loved Next, John Lewis and M&S. They all washed very well but Next did the best patterns, M&s were softest.
John Lewis and Sainsburys were what we had most of as that’s what I could get. I found JL sizing best for small slim babies and Sainsbury’s for short, wide almost square babies!
If I had my time again I’d buy some special ones from Polarn O Pyret as they’re soft and strong and gorgeous.

Nillynally · 01/05/2020 23:42

John Lewis are huge but last ages, wash softer than Next, avoid next!! M&S good. Mothercare do lovely newborn, oh, I've just remembered 😩

JusticeForBarb · 01/05/2020 23:49

Wondersuits!

marvellousmaplesyrup · 02/05/2020 00:28

I have a real mixture!

Can't go wrong with M&S. I found their sizing was most true to my DS age. They also now do zip up sleepsuits which are a godsend (damn poppers).

Jojo are excellent quality and wash well. I have never bought a full price one, their sales are very good and usually stock up when they have one on.

Next are good as well but I find they are slightly on the larger side. Lots of choice though and again wash very well.

Joules have some lovely sleepsuits, lovely quality and last for ages. Slightly thicker as well so great for winter. Again, never bought a full price one but the sales are great.

I have been given some beautiful sleepsuits from Toby Tiger and Kite Clothing. Very expensive though!

bookish83 · 02/05/2020 07:29

I forgot to say about the M&S zipper ones. They are great, wish other companies would do them.

Try to get the suits that open fully from the neck. The legs only poppers are a pain! X
