When I have her cows milk broke out in hives so doing soy till we see allergist..

She’s still brrreastfed, water, and three meals + two snacks offered a day..

There is a decent chance she will be allergic to soy too - the proteins are very similar. I would try lactose free in the first instance I think.

She will be allergic to the cows milk protein, not lactose. There is far more lactose in breast milk than cows milk and she would be incredibly poorly.
About 40% of babies allergic to cows milk protein are also allergic to soy. If you think she's not then you can use the junior soy milk as a main drink from 12 months but if your not sure then I think oatly barrista is the next best one, calorie wise (also far nicer in tea and for cooking with)

Thanks but I’ve given her soy quite a few times and no reaction..

The dr said I could, and there’s nothing I ca do till we see an allergist.

Ok, that's great then - it wasn't clear from your OP that you were already giving soy with no issues. In that case I'm afraid I don't understand what you are asking - give her as much as you/she wants surely? I assume you are giving fortified and unsweetened, there is no restriction?

You mention trying to reduce breastfeeding, most people replace one breastfeed at a time, to avoid mastitis. If she usually feeds 6 times a day then give her a soy drink once and feed 5 times. Then a couple of days later 2 x soy, 4 time breast etc.

Almond milk is not soya suitable. Assuming you are in the U.K. then alpro growing up soya milk or oatly barista are good alternatives.

Thanks ! Will do!im actually 4 months pregnant w a second so my breastmilk has reduced much which is also why I am presssured to fulfill it in other ways !

I think PP are also saying its unlikely to be lactose intolerance as breastmilk is full of it. More likely to be cows milk protein causing an issue. Alpro soya 1+ is tailored for children as it is fortified to make it more like cows milk

Karorev · 28/04/2020 00:04

OK yeah I don’t really know why she’s reacting to it at all that’s why were seeing an allergist but she breaks out into red blotches in a little white have so I’m going to refrain from giving it to till we see get an allergist she hasn’t had reactions to soy
