Hello ladies,

My daughter is 6 weeks old and I am exclusively breastfeeding her. She poos every alternative days. I am but worried about the poo today. Looks like it has mucus in it and I am not sure what is the white substance.
Please advise.

TIA
DD

I’m not seeing white or mucous but that is probably the photo showing weird on my phone, if your LO seems fine within herself and isn’t showing signs of low feeding/discomfort I’d think this is okay?

Is she starting to teethe? I noticed my twins had runnier poos when their first started growing through (increased saliva production and swallowing) they started with rooting a good few weeks before any teeth were visible in their gum line 😊

She is only 6 weeks, can she start teething?
I don't think there is mucus in there but it looked bit unusual.

It could be teething. DD1 had 3 teeth before she was 4 months old. As PP said, it can definitely affect their digestion.

Thanks got your replies ladies. Should I call the GP or wait to see if the next nappy has mucus as well? I am very reluctant to take her to the surgery in this pandemic. Apart from the nappy she has no other symptoms.

I think that's fine. My 15 month old had nappies like that fairly often in the early days and it sorted itself out as his digestion improved. They do get mucousy poos sometimes. I'm
