Could anyone tell me if they really home school or how does it going?
I feel a such useless mum.
My daughter is 8 yrs old, almost 9and in year 4.
The first two weeks of it went ok.
We started at 9 am.
Our timetable was like this:
1 hr of Art where we were both drawing something of internet or you tube.
Then we did some English/ science subject which I gave her to explore on the Google- birds of prey, trees, volcanos etc- she had write a a page long article about it.
Than we have break for 20mins and after did something like reading a etc.
Lunch for 1 hr and back to Purple Mash,Spelling Shed or Tt Rockstars.
Finished at 3pm.
Now this week after Easter she does not take it too seriously, mucks about.. not interested.
I spoke to 3 other mums from her classroom and they said none of the kids want to do any school work so they gave up..

How are you all doing please? I worry if I don’t do much she fell behind.

Also this week they got a work from the class teacher sent to do.
It was 10 page of worksheets.
The math consisted rather difficult puzzles which even I or husband could not worked out so we just handed in blank page.
It’s a looooong time since I left school ( I’m older mum) also I’m not British so I am useless in English grammar etc...or in correcting her, also I don’t know the phrases etc..( she only speaks English)

Anyway tell me how’s its going pls...

Our daughter is almost 8 but with DH back at work at a 6 week old too - she probably isn’t getting as much done as she should. We try to get the basics done so English, maths, phonics and spellings but the timetable school have done covers a separate topic, science, PE and PSHE and RE. It’s not possible to complete it all and I don’t think they really expect us to either. Other parents I have spoken to are aiming for the basics and even then some days they let it slide. This isn’t a situation anyone thought they would be in - I think we just have to do our best and they will all be in the same situation when they go back.

I am working from home and on a course so leave my teen to get on with work that has school has sent, but have a 10 year old with learning needs that I am struggling to teach. I mainly get by with bitesize videos and quizzes. Over time my organisation has dropped and if he learns anything in a day I feel it is an achievement.

Me and DH work full time from home. We never managed more than an hour and half school work with DD, I also have to rely on our secondary school kids on self discipline to do their work Blush

Really not great for working parents! But my kids are loving it.

DS is 5, so only in year 1 and realistically it isn't a huge deal. But I totally sympathise. He absolutely doesn't want to do anything, and with two other smaller children and a job, neither do I!
I've decided to aim for 1 English and 1 maths thing (set by school) a day. I also got a couple of work books from amazon so if it all goes wrong, I get him to do a page of those instead.
You really don't need to feel bad!! I'm British, with a PhD and I still have to Google some stuff (e.g. Split digraphs...Hmm). Just remember we're all in the same boat.

We have ups and downs. My DD hates me to teach her anything so it is a challenge.
I don't aim for long lessons, she can't concentrate. But I do aim for continuity in our routine.

We start the day with a bike ride, our daily exercise- as DD is in a better mood after fresh air.

Then I brief her on the plan for the whole day.

This always starts with TT Rockstars, then Maths, breaktime, then English, then SPaG, then lunch. After lunch she does her music practise, then Science/History/art or geography. The day ends with reading aloud to grandma over Facetime.

In bad days not a lot gets done and we end up dancing to music or working in our veg garden.
