Meal ideas for lunch 7 / 8 month old

I am just about to move my 7.5 month old to 3 meals a day.
What do you give them for lunch ? All the books / websites I have looked at seem to really fancy and cost a fortune which I can’t do either in lockdown. For my own lunch I tend to just have a sandwich and a piece of fruit! Not really baby friendly or ultra healthy.
Any lunch ideas would be appreciated that are easy xxx

Sandwich and fruit is fine! Dd used to have soup to throw all over the walls and maybe lick a bit off her finger, toast & hummus, omelette, half a crumpet with butter and then bits of cheese, fruit and veg to go with it.

Not all together Grin

Mine would have leftovers from previous night’s dinner if it was baby-suitable i.e. low salt
I’d just mush it, heat it and let it cool to a suitable temperature.
If it wasn’t baby-suitable or we didn’t have leftovers, lunch would usually be a selection of finger foods. I’d try and offer a carb, protein/dairy and fruit/veg. For example, a couple of slices of avocado, tuna and half a slice of toast.

Sandwich and fruit works! I’d deconstruct it though. So a couple of fingers of bread then some bits of what’s in your sandwich. Omelette is great at that age, again in strips is easier for them if they’re struggling. DS needed things longer than his fat little fists so he didn’t “lose” his lunch in there. Awww I loved that stage for eating, they’re so determined!

Sandwiches, wraps, rolls, (cut small) scrambled egg, omelette, eggs bread, things like beans, hoops, spaghetti with toast. Add in a bit of fruit and a yoghurt.
My aim with my toddlers lunch is some carb, protein, fruit or veg and dairy but that may be a bit much to manage at first although you could do small bits of each

I did a mixture of leftover dinners or sandwich/toast/finger food.

My DS has a sandwich or something like oatcakes/rice cakes with toppings every lunch time. Fruit and cherry tom's/cucumber sticks on the side.

I haven't got the time or inclination to be rustling up another meal for him to be chucking on the floor!
