Baby and cables

My DD is 6 months and is obsessed with wires/cables/anything dangerous. They are the only thing that she plays independently with (obviously with strict supervision) but anytime I have to move to answer the door, go to the toilet or whatever I have to take them away and she screams and screams. Is there a way to make them safe to play with?

I was thinking maybe using a hot glue gun and a board with small holes (feeling inventive during lockdown) and making them short enough that she can't get tangled in them.

This might sound like a stupid question but this is my first child and I have NO experience of children or babies Blush

I wouldn't let a baby play with cables and wires, even supervised. Baby needs to understand that they are not toys. What about when they're older and you can't supervise them all the time? They will play with cables which are plugged in. Maybe buy a play phone that has a short curly cable to play with.

I am also a ftm and my experience with children is my own dd.

But cables are not toys. Why are you asking how to make thank safe? No. Keep them away from her and give her something else to play with. Pots and pans, measuring spoons, but not cables. You'll probably find it harder getting her away from them now she considers them a toy but you'll just have to put your foot down.

Perhaps I have some more experience as i have 3 cats, one of which loves to chew wires so we already have had to hide or cover a lot of our cables.
