Dry skin on newborns face

Can anyone advise any good creams I can use of my 4 week olds face?

She has quite bad dry skin on her forehead and on her cheeks they are a little red and rashed. It's only appeared over the last few days and wasn't that noticeable but this morning we have woke up to it being a lot more flakey and red. It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all, probably looks worse to us than it is for her.

Any recommendations would be great so I can try nip out to the shops (for the essentials of course) and grab some type of cream 🥴 thank you in advance!

I've attached a photo of a tiny bit to show

A little bit of coconut oil will help.
I used Weleda calendula oil on the kids when they were babies. It's a bit pricey but it was lovely.

DD had really full-on cradle cap. I'd massage her scalp with oil then, ever so gently, comb through her hair with her infant fine-tooth comb, lifting off the scaly patches. This is useful to know in case your little one develops cradle cap.

Is that a lovely head of strawberry blonde hair I see? Smile

I really wouldn’t worry about it. It’s totally normal but if you can get some aveeno cream next time you shop that’s great.

I was going to recommend coconut oil. I add some to the bath water too after washing hair for my 7yo who has dry skin. Then a little smoothed over the area. Smells delicious too 🙂

It sounds normal but if you're worried you could also take her to the pharmacy and see what the pharmacist advises? I'd call ahead just to make sure they're ok with you bringing in such a young baby or they might be able to advise over the phone.

My midwife recommended oil for my baby. Coconut oil like PP suggested is a good option. I used rapeseed oil. Good for baby massage too.

Thanks everyone! I'll get some oil and aveeno to try!

Ps @TheVanguardSix not 100% sure what her hair colour is doing yet. She was born with loads of dark hair and it's going so light now, here's a better pic of it 😁
