I really need to stop breastfeeding my twins!

My twins are almost 4 and still breastfeed. They only have a bit for comfort but are still waking up in the night crying for milk.

I never intended to feed them for this long but it's proving very difficult to stop.

One twin decided one day last year that they didn't want my milk anymore and stopped for a few months. Then they became ill with a cold and seeing their sibling still having milk, they wondered if they could have some.

They are due to start school in September and I really need them to stop breastfeeding.

Can anyone give me any tips to help stop them?

Tell them there is no more milk. It will only take a few days at most and they'll forget all about it.

You could give a cuddly toy or blanket or something and if they need comfort, give them that. They associate milk with sleep, they need to make a new association to learn they can go back to sleep a different way.

Just don't give in, you're the grown up! Good luck.

As @ludicrouslemons said!!

If that does not work put something black over your nipples and tell them they have gone bad! Or put something like vinegar on so they don't like the taste anymore xx

I think you do need to say your milk has gone and wear really inaccessible clothes.

If they wake in the night, could your DP/DH go to them and settle them. Once they get the idea there's no milk on offer, they will probably sleep through anyway.

Be strong OP, you can do this Smile
