two week old breathing

hi've got a two week old daughter, today she's started breathing fast you can see and hear her breathing, she also had a whistle to her breathing and sounds as if she has something in her throat or nose(maybe mucus?) she also gets really stressed when feeding and needs burping for a good hour. I rung the hospital and they have said to monitor it and ring back if she gets worse as I'm seeing my midwife in the morning and they don't want me brining a vulnerable baby to the hospital with the current corvid if we can help it. As you can imagine I'm worried out my mind and won't sleep at all tonight. we are going to follow what the hospital says but...

has anyone had anything similar? or got any advise?

Count her breaths per minute and keep an eye on that. I’m guessing temp is ok and no other symptoms?
My DS was admitted to hospital for very similar and was absolutely fine.

@onthewaves40

no her temp is fine, once she had fed and she settles to sleep she seams slightly better.

glad to hear your DS was fine!

How many breaths per minute?

One breath is classes as one in and out

Please take your baby to hospital and get her seen if you are worried. She won't catch Covid from hospital, they're being really strict about infection control and keeping people separate.
Children are dying because their parents are worried about taking them to hospital due to the virus.
Paediatrics is open, and relatively quiet. They will see you and either she's fine and you get sent home with reassurance or she's not fine in which case she can be treated.
Please get her seen if you are worried about her and if you can't get through to people or they won't see her, take her to A&E.
Don't try to count her breathing rate, I'm trained in it and I struggle sometimes in newborn babies and it took me years to get to the point where I can do it all. It is so easy to get wrong and relying on that (potentially wrong) information to determine how worried you are is not safe.

I was not suggesting that the OP rely on the breathing rate only...

OP , ring 111 at a minimum

If you concerned about a newborn take to a and e.
Sounds like a stridor - noisy breathing
Better to go and get checked. They will keep you away from covid patients
