Colic

Hi,

I'm a new mum and suspect my baby has colic as he is bloated, has a hard tummy, windy and won't settle.

I've tried the aptamil colic formula but doesn't seem to be doing much.

Does anyone have any tips to soothe the baby through it or to make him more comfortable?

Thanks!

Hey. I have the exact same issue with my 7 week. Yesterday I purchased some colief from the pharmacy. 11quid for the smallest bottle you've ever seen. My husband said hes noticed a difference already. Hes less grouchy and is passing wind loads. He farts like you wont believe. I've been using infacol for the past two weeks but can honestly say I haven't noticed a difference apart from his winding was a bit easier. If you can afford defo buy colief and hope it gets easier. It's so hard isbt it x

Obviously the wind is still there as heavy farting loads but hes not struggling to pass as much if you know what I mean x

My second had bad colic. We tried infacol, dentinox drops, gripe water but the game changer for us was Colief drops. Miracle drops in my opinion. You can find them on Amazon cheaper than in the shops (well you could before, not checked in the last year).

Thank you guys! Going to order coleif!

While I'm waiting for it, will gripe water help for the time being? X

It didnt for us but I've heard lots of good reports. The colief is good its just a pain to prepare. You have to make your bottle 30 mins in advance. Xx

Laylor · 15/04/2020 19:09

Sorry should explain myself better. So you have to add the colief in to the bottle 30 mins before giving it baby. The formula has to be warm not hot before you add the colief. By the time 30 mins is up the milk is cold but luckily my little one drinks it cold anyway xx

Hi all,

So I found that aptamil colic and constipation worked a treat on my little one and I gave him a little bit of grip water aswell before feeds only twice a day and he seems to be much better!

Thank u all for your help x

Could Aptamil be causing colic , should I change to SMA.
I’m a new mum of twins, little boy fine on aptamil but little girl seems to be in constant pain after feed. Tried infacol and aptamil for colic and constipation with no effect. Babies are 6 weeks old

Thatwentbadly · 10/03/2021 09:16

Colic means unexplained crying.

Being windy and only being settled when held is normal new baby behaviour. I would speak to midwife or GP about his hard tummy and get that checked. Is his poo constipated?

Zoe5678 · 10/03/2021 10:42

Thanks for reply
Both babies have loose stools, and a lot of farting going on!
Have read that nearly all formula contains probiotics which may be the cause.SMA is apparently the only one that doesn’t.
Have an appointment with health visitor.
Was just wondering if anyone else had this problem

DragonPoop · 10/03/2021 10:47

Infacol worked perfectly for us, he was like a different baby once we started giving him some.

Pinkhan135 · 10/03/2021 11:14

I have some colief but baby no longer uses. I don't want to throw it away as it's so expensive. Does anyone want it? Am I allowed to give to someone on here?
