Hello ladies. So yesterday out of the blue I decided to wean my one year old daughter off breastfeeding. The hardest decision I have ever made. She keeps crying and throwing tantrums. On the other hand my breast are so engorged and painful I have no clue what to do. I currently have cabbage In there, it has helped a bit but not that much. Also took a Tylenol extra strength but mayne this hurts. Any suggestions for the pain and any suggestions for how to Sooth my little one at such a difficult time.

Look at the lll website or kellymom for advice on the best way to wean. Going cold turkey is really not advisable as you could end up with a whole lot of pain, potential mastitis and it's pretty hard on the child too!

Definitely express or put her back on to feed and cut down slowly. I went to feeding mine twice a day, then once a day, then every other day and then every 2-3 days. I did that over maybe 2 months. I still got a bit of mastitis/possible access in one breast. Given the current circumstances (not easy to get GP appointments or antibiotics), I’d be very cautious about going cold turkey and risking an infection.

Savoy cabbage is a life saver for engorged breasts when weaning. Not sure how it works but it’s like magic. Apply cold leaves from the fridge for instant relief! Good luck.

Oops just seen you are already in the cabbage.

The cabbage helped a little and pumping a little on both sides has helped. My daughter has also stopped asking me for milk, which is breast. My breast are doing great just a little sore but I'm sure it will go as time passes. Thank you ladies for your thoughts and advice
