Bickiepegs?

My daughter is 5 months old and has cut a tooth but the gum has swelled around it and it's disappeared again. She's struggling with teething and just wants to chew everything. I've got all the gels & powders going and occasionally use painkillers for her but I've read good things about bickiepegs however they're from 6 months as they're vaguely edible. Has anyone used these before baby has been weaned for teething? She will be baby led weaned at 6 months if it makes a difference.

Is it not because they are wheat based that they are from 6 months?

Funtcase95 · 06/04/2020 14:35

@dementedpixie I've no idea, I'm a FTM so have no experience with teething or weaning! Just want something to help her!

Have you got the teething rings you put in the freezer?

I did use them, years ago before my 2 were weaned. I don't think I knew you weren't meant to use them before 6 months. Anecdotal, but they were both absolutely fine. In fairness we live on a farm so they probably had put far worse in their mouths before then.

They soften during use so have to be thrown away after a relatively short period of time. I would get teething rings you can put in the freezer and can be washed and reused

Funtcase95 · 06/04/2020 14:40

@inwood I thought frozen teethers were advised against now?

I have a memory of them tasting awful and feeling as hard as a brick (I must have tested one out!). I can't remember how old she was but my dd didn't seem to like them either. I don't think it should matter too much if you give your dd one to try before she turns 6 months. She's not far off it so I don't see it would make a difference.

I used to put teething toys in the fridge for my DD so they were cold to help with pain and swelling. Mostly she chewed on my nipples!

They're a very old fashioned teething accessory. My dm told me about them when my ds was a baby and we bought them for him. They're a very hard biscuit with a hole that you used to thread a ribbon through to hold onto while biting the biscuit.

dementedpixie · 06/04/2020 14:42

The info for them says:

Give your baby no more than 20 minutes with a Bickiepeg and then discard it. Please do not keep and re-use after it has been in baby’s mouth.

I used bikkipegs, they make a lot of mess as they soften.

DC used them a bit then I got annoyed with the mess.

Use chilled teething rings easier to keep clean.

keepingbees · 06/04/2020 14:45

I got them for my dd and she liked them but she quickly managed to snap one in half. Luckily I was watching her as it was a choking hazard, never bought them again. So just be careful with them

Rumtopf · 06/04/2020 14:47

I used a teething ring that would go in the freezer for my dd.

My DS like Sophie giraffe and the monkey teethers!! Honestly sometimes think he is going to eat them he bites down so hard 🤣

BikeRunSki · 06/04/2020 16:02

I used frozen carrots

Phifedean123 · 07/04/2020 09:48

Sophie the giraffe was a lifesaver for me too!
