My CM is closed due to coronavirus and is not providing care for anyone including key worker children. She is usually full to capacity every day based on the legal ratios. She gets funding for the 30 hours for 3 and 4 year olds, has younger kids all day and a lot before and after school too. She has a husband in work in a profession.
She has my youngest 25 hrs a week while I work, term time only. Youngest starts school FT in Sept and would be leaving her care as I want all my kids in the same before and after school setting from September and she has no space for my other child as is she is fully booked.
She is asking for no fees currently as per our contract. Should I offer to pay a percentage to her now she is closed, taking account of our term time only arrangement, and notice period which means that in normal times we would be ending our contract from mid July anyway?
I don't know what to do. My husband is still working as normal and I have been furloughed so am getting 80%. My understanding is that childminders can apply for business interruption grants like other self employed and will be paid 80% of profits from June backdated to March. My childminder has been child minding for years ap will qualify for the 80% scheme. We usually pay her with childcare vouchers. Will anything we pay her now affect what she could claim from Gov and potentially make her worse off in the long run?
