How do you stop your dc weeing in their car seat/buggy?

Ds is pretty much potty trained but is still having accidents if he nods off in the buggy or car seat.

He is still wearing nappies at night which is what seems to be confusing him as if he stays awake in the buggy/carseat he has no accidents.

Any ideas?

put one of those change mats in the bottom of the pushchair? won't sop him weeing but will absorb the wee

You can buy pads designed for pushchairs and car seats - either a Piddle Pad from Boots, or a Buppy pad.

I don't think wearing nappies at night is confusing him; he just doesn't have control over his bladder when he's asleep, which is normal.

Thanks Pop and Wigwam, I use both of those.

Was just hoping for a magic cure

We used to use 'car knickers' when going on car journeys along with a wetex pad thing. Didn't stop the weeing but meant we didn't have to revert to nappies but didn't have loads of mess.

i think this is just an inevitable part of potty training which hopefully won't go on for too long.

does he still nap in the day? do you put a nappy on him then?

for a while i used pull-ups for car journeys "Dora pants", or for v short car trips i just put a pampers change mat in the bottom of the car seat / buggy and always had a spare change of trousers/pants

it doesn't last for long... keep smiling!

try and get him to wee before you set off.

RickyTigerfeetson · 12/09/2007 16:17

We just muddled along with a thick carrier bag and a towel... worked just fine for the odd accident

tbh I wasn't keen on putting her in pull ups for long journeys as I didn't want to send out confusing signals

Carrier bag and a towel here, too.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Already doing most of the things suggested so guess I just have to grin and bear it for now. Might try taking his trousers off for longer journeys to save a bit of washing!

BTW Amedi, he is not having a nap anymore so night time is the only time he wears a nappy.
