3 year old waking for milk

Hi All

I have a very active happy three year old who unfortunately just has limited interest in eating.

He's a grazer and will have a few bites and be done. I find at preschool he eats so much more than at home and subsequently since we have been on lockdown his intake has lessened (so has his movement so understand that too)

Trouble is he's also started waking again in the night about 1.30 and is wanting a drink of his milk .
I've given in as I'm just so tired with him home and also trying to work full time from home and working till late in the evening myselfI just want him happy and off back to sleep. I know I'll potentially have problems to undo down the track.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this? How would you ensure a fussy eater is full before going to bed when they won't eat....

Sigh

Thanks

I could have written this 6 months ago. Very poor eater, seemingly doesn't feel hunger.
Before bed I would show her an empty milk carton (keep one to use) and tell her the milk is all gone until the shop opens tomorrow. At night when she woke I would give her water and remind her that the milk has all gone, even showing her the empty carton again.
3 nights and it was cracked, it's hard but you can do it

That is a really good trick TBB Smile

And another thing that I'm doing is a packed lunch. Make it all up, put in a lunch box and eat it in the garden or sitting on the wall. I think it recreates pre school or something, it works for my dd every time.

Thank you so much I will try the packed lunch thing.

And you know what I've woken up this morning (I'm a Brit in NZ) and thought who cares... I'll do what I can and hopefully with a fuller tummy he naturally stops but I'll deal with it all once this lockdown and stress if over.

Thank you so much for replying I hope you and your family are keeping well.

My 3 year old went through this phase a while ago. I was very surprised as she had stopped having bottles at 13 months. It didn’t last long.

MrsG absolutely, we all need to do whatever gets us through the day at the moment.
How are things in NZ, are you locked down?

MrsG2017 · 02/04/2020 22:41

@Thatbloodybear yes NZ is on lockdown started just before the UK we are very fortunate at the moment we locked down early and so hopefully that will help matters. Sending everyone in the UK our love
