Hi. I was just looking for ideas of how to keep the children entertained during lockdown?

Thanks

Tv
YouTube
Home learning
Trips to the duck pond
Playing in the garden
Eating
Drawing
Cooking
Playing shops
Reading
Minecraft

I'm basically just letting them get on with it tbh apart from the home learning bit that I'm enforcing on them.

There’s a Facebook page called The Great Isolation Bake Off which has a children’s category each week.

There are daily stickie posts with links to different live streams (the animal ones are brilliant) , music and art classes, and entertainment in this FB group, and lots of posts for crafts and resources and interesting stuff.

Scrabble. Even 5 yo ds is enjoying it. Playing in teams of 2..
We also have a holiday bag containing sticker books /puzzles etc.
Not likely we will need it this year anyway..
Sad

I've got a 7 Yr old and a 5 Yr old.
I have to work from home in the morning so they're left to their own devises from breakfast to lunch time.
After that we go outside for a quick play outside.
Then we do an our of school work. This takes us almost up to tea time.
I try to do one fun thing with Mum per day. So far this has been:
Building a basket for Dds bike out of junk
Painting
Building things out of cardboard
Lego sets
Baking bread
"challenges" (draw a pet you'd like to have, build a vehicle from duplo etc)
They seem happy enough to play together. Sometimes when I emerge at lunchtime they're on screens. Sometimes they're in dress up clothes engaged in a complex pretend game.

I’m so envious of everyone with older children on here. DD is 17 months and gorgeous but v hard work at the moment. She has a 10-min attention span so I burn through all my activities in the space of an hour 😫

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 29/03/2020 09:52

Wine for Mindatwork I remember that stage. Dealing with this would have been a nightmare.

I need structure so we have been following a loosely structured school day so they can't get bored as there is always a plan:
breakfast
PE with Joe ( ensures we are up and I have a bra on),
spelling words/ writing notes to friends/ cards for relatives
snack and play 20 mins
Zoom call with child's class or FaceTime with relatives or child's friends
Creative time (baking/ stickers/ colouring/ lego)
Lunch including free play
Reading
Maths games on iPad
David Walliams free audiobook
Drawing tutorial or some online class or science/ history/natural history tv show
Garden time and/ or walk when we need it
bath

Dinner
Play
bed at normal time.

Older dc are a hazard at this time.
Ime...

I got up to 3 of my ds's playing Barber shops.
Mind blowing what a beard trimmer can do to an 11 yo's hair....
Ds 16 +18 appear to be pleased with what they did to each other...
Shock

@MindatWork snap! 16 months here and I’m losing the will to live! I’m a teacher so trying to remotely teach from home. DP is trying to keep her entertained and away from me but it’s bloody hard work.

Poor girl has watched A LOT of CBeebies over the last week.

MindatWork · 29/03/2020 21:26

Thank you @unlimiteddilutingjuice and 🍷🍷🍷🍸🍸🍸 for you @thunderthighsohwoe. She’s actually been so good this week we’ve managed to get into a bit of a routine (am also having to share parenting and working from home duties with DH but thankfully my boss is understanding).

Yes lots of CBeebies here, snacks, stickers (oh god the tiny stickers EVERYWHERE) and we’ve ordered a slide and a big tuff tray for our (extremely un-child-friendly) garden.

We’re both ruined by the end of each day but trying to count our blessings 🍷🍸🍷🍸🍷🍸

Far too much screen time, mainly Roblox, Minecraft and YouTube.
Treasure hunts.
Local walks
Scavenger hunts.
Outdoor play
Den building
Storytime
Joe Wicks
Baking
Board games
Art and craft
Lego
FaceTiming friends.
Doing jobs around the house EG washing the car and sorting his clothes out.
