Is this her first tooth??

DD is 4 months old and has been teething for a while, just assumed she would be like this for months and cut later on after about 6 months however the last couple of days she's been absolute inconsolable, dribbling constantly and chewing everything, and sleeping during the day more. I've just popped some teething gel on and saw this!! It's hard and sharp - is it a tooth?! I know that sounds ridiculous, I just didn't expect one so early and have half convinced myself it's not Grin

It sounds like it could be! Grin

I'll try and get a better picture but 4 month olds aren't known for remaining still and letting you put your fingers in their mouth 🤷🏻‍♀️

My 4 month old is behaving exactly the same and hands always in mouth fussing. Gums feel hard and I can see white through the gums but nothing has cut yet. With dc1 once cut it felt like a little sharp point if that helps

Irritable, drooling, hard and sharp. Definitely a tooth. 4 months is early but not ridiculously early.

Funtcase95 · 27/03/2020 18:29

@Yesterdayforgotten yes like a small, sharp point!

@Sally872 yeah it's deffo not too early but I didn't expect it that's all!

Aww first tooth has cut but it will still be pushing down and causing discomfort but hopefully not long now!

That’s what my DD’s first teeth looked like. The front ones were quite disturbing to see! Without sounding too hippy-ish (!) I found the Amber necklaces really worked for stopping the drooling and overall pain. Noticeable within a couple of days of putting it on and very noticeable drilling and irritability when I forgot to put it in after a bath for a day or two. I didn’t like it round her neck at such a young age so just double wrapped it round her ankle under a sock. If you go down this route, the most recommended ones are the unpolished, lemon colour ones. Worth a shot...

@FurryCat1978 we have one! It arrived yesterday, a bracelet but it's too big so we put it on her ankle. Do you let them sleep wearing them on the ankle? She hasn't had it on today as I put it on under a sock and it left little marks so thought it was perhaps too tight under a sock?

Hi @Funtcase95 Oh I hope you find it helpful. When my DDs ankle grew bigger the necklace didn’t go all round either so I just wrapped it round anyway without doing it up. Under a snug sock, it never came off by accident. Yes, she used it 24 hours; I’d take it off for a bath but that was it. Once she was about a year old she started using it as a necklace during the day as she was more interested in taking it off her ankle then! The most important advice I got at the time was that the Amber should be in contact with the skin; so as long as that’s happening don’t worry about doing it up if it’s a little tight. I had to get a couple of sizes up once DD really started growing. She used it till she was three and I can honestly you wouldn’t know she was teething apart from the red cheeks tell tale sign. Best of luck!
