Teens & phones at night...

I was woken up last night about 1:30am by my teen son chatting loudly so went into his room to find him headphones plugged into phone (which should be charging in the study as are both mine and husbands as we do have a house rule about phones at bedtime) chatting away. He handed the phone over immediately on being ‘caught’ but now wondering how we should handle this. In other circumstances he would totally have had his phone confiscated but as we are now a week into stay at home these are not normal times and he is stuck at home with us and to quote him ‘soooo bored’ ... I’d welcome thoughts on what other teen parents are doing...

I would just reiterate the rules and move the phone charging to somewhere he can't access at night. Your room?

Now isn't the time to take mobile privileges away as you say.

Just use a parental control app to block the phone at night and to put a maximum daily screen time. For android phone use Google Family Link, for iphone use Apple Family Sharing, both are free.
