So which nappies are the most absorbent?

Coz my Ds(8 months)is weeing ALOT at night, and soaking through nappy, vest, sleepsuit and sleeping bag!

He wears cloth nappies during the day, no problems. At night I have tried boosters, fleece wraps etc all to no avail. A few weeks ago I started putting him in disposables at night, but recently he is wetting through these as well.

Any ideas?

What cloth nappies does he wear and what are you boosting them with?

lailasmum · 10/09/2007 17:45

I would say Tots Bots, Cotton nappies. their other nappies are good too. He may be a really heavy wetter, I found with my dd that she was a very heavy wetter so was in a size 3 tots bots just for the extra fabric with a booster. I realised just how much she wet when she started using a potty as it was practically full after she had been

Size 3 tots unbleached, sometimes with booster of the same have fixed the problem for us. If you get nippa ones you can fold them down and use from 20 lbs I read somewhere.

thanks for your replies. He's currently in Tots Bots Bamboozles size 2. Perhaps I should try the plain tots bots?

Forgot to say I am using Tots Bots own brand boosters with them.

Bumhuggers....the new ones have a pocket so you can boost as well but they are super absorbant.

I love mine!

I've put my 14 weeks old DD in my new medium ones which have only had one wash, and it was still dry around the waist in the morning after 12 hours.

I can't rave about them enough.

lailasmum · 10/09/2007 18:16

The plain cotton ones do seem really reliable. You may also want to try a fluffle. Would be interesting to know if he is doing huge wee at once and the fabric isn't getting a chance to soak it up before it escapes so maybe microfibre would be a better option as it seems to absorb really quickly or if he is doing lots of small wees throughout the night as in that case extra boosters would probably work (but sounds like you have tried that). You could try putting a microfibre booster or the insert from a pocket nappy like a fuzzi bunz in to boost instead of a cotton one.

Bumhuggers (new ones) were hell for me. Bamboo quick flip is best for me.

nappyneeds · 10/09/2007 22:30

the most absorbant nappy i have ever come across are the baby beehinds bamboo fleece. They are not only super absorbant but they also come with two snap in boosters one of which is really long and can be folded over.

TheApprentice · 11/09/2007 08:39

Gosh! Thanks, lots of ideas to try!

Daisy, am not sure whether its one big wee or not! Certainly we have no problem during the day, and I thought this issue would clear up once we stopped his 10pm dreamfeed, but this has made no difference.

oooh nappyneeds, interesting....I've got my council trial pack of babybeehinds coming soon

accessorizewithbabysick · 13/09/2007 21:48

Fluffle with bamboo booster folded inside. It's soaking in the morning but he's not.

NappiesGalore · 13/09/2007 22:02

ive been pondering this. have so many diff sorts of nappy, all bought wihin such a shor space of time, i can barely remeber whats what!

at night, the most successful combo for my 19m heavy night wetter seems to be: babybeehinds bamboo fleece one size thngamy with both its own boosters, plus at least one other booster of whatever comes to hand... and woolywrap shorts over.
in the morning, the nappy etc is soaking, but the wool feels dry outside, and the bed is dry.
he drinks and wees tons at night too.

bamboo seems to have tendency to absorb in one spot and not transmit the wetness along it (iyswim) so am not hugely impressed with it on the whole - it being trumpeted as the most absorbent thing ever - but the beehinds seem to do the trick, fit well, even with multiple boosters, and they are gorgeous too, which is a nice bonus.

tis the woolywrap shorts which are the real hero tho... or wool wrap from beehinds will do too. wool unsurpassed for nightime imo.

NappiesGalore · 13/09/2007 22:03

i use a fleece liner too, to keep wetness off his skin

micromummy · 13/09/2007 23:38

I've only done flat nappies of various kinds (cheapskate) but bamboo prefold from nappy nation has been great - weighs half a ton in the morning. In general I seem to need to increase the size of the nappy if leaking so ds goes to bed with a giant bum (he's only 4 months but his nappies/wraps claim should fit up to 30-35lbs)...he doesn't seem to care...
