Boiled water for constipation - fact or fiction?

7 week old DS has reflux so isnon anti reflux formula (worked better for him than gaviscon).

Problem is formula is making him a bit constipated - nothing major but enough to upset him. Pharmacist gave him lactose but he doesn't need full dose so only taking 1ml per day. Problem is it seems to cause him as much discomfort as the constipation so going round in circles.

MIL mentioned a small amount of boiled cooled water each day but my doctor has poopoo-ed it..... but they also said gaviscon works better than formula and were wrong about that! He has acknowledged he doesnt have kids and so can only go by what he was taught not real life experience.

Can anyone advise if it is worth a go and how much/how often to try?

Fact

My midwife actually told me to give ds a syringe full of cooled boiled water after every feed.

After days of constipation, he finally had a nice big poo. Honestly me and dh was so excited to see it Grin

When my boys were little 6-7 years ago, I was advised cooled boiled water an a bit of brown sugar added.

I picked one up from the pharmacist but calpol syringe would be fine.

5mls is ideal yes
