i am 25 weeks pg with DC2. i used disposables with DS until he was about 8 months old when i tried cloth and changed to them. i am wanting to use cloth from the start with this baby as i can remember the poo explosions that always leaked with the disposables.

anyway, with DS he fed every few hours during the night at first and always did a poo afterwards, so what is the best thing to do about changes during the night? obviously i dont want to be awake any longer bthan i have to by rinsing nappies etc but i also dont want stained and smelly nappies in my bedroom, so whats the best plan?

I just chuck the liner and dump nappy in the nappy bucket (with a lid)...I don't rinse mine

Should maybe also mention I wet pail (with a few drops of tea tree oil) and haven't had any problems with staining. HTH

Put a nappy bucket in the bathroom - chuck em in there. Newborn poo is lovely and rinses out with just a machine rinse, so you don't have to do any fiddling with them at all.

i use fleece linners for 7 week old dd, the whole lot goes in nappy bin in the bathroom, then in the washer every night.(have 17 month ds) and put them on rince cycle first.
I also use shaped nappies in the night for speed.

Use paper liners and just flush the poo and liner straight down the loo.

thanks, i wet pail at the moment as ive had problems with smells and it seems to be the only think that works for me at the mo. i was going to use bambinex nappies in size 2 as a birth to potty then i can use them on DS too. i got DH to be on nappy duty last time so at least he cant complain too much about using cloth and having to mess around if all he has to do is walk to the bathroom

Good nappy choice

I would recommend fleece liners for a newborn rather than paper liners however it is down to preference for some. I find paper liners come into their own when poo becomes more solid but for a newborn theres nothing better at keeping babys bot dry than fleece liners imo
