I can’t believe that anyone is going to ‘get in trouble’ for keeping their dc off school. Nursery children don’t even have to be in school legally.

Just send an email saying they have coughs if you want to keep them off.

Send them to school. They will be fine.
There is good reason to keep the schools open at the moment.

Literaryseed · 15/03/2020 21:01

Unless they have underlying health issues you should send them in.

Follow your instincts. The schools will be closing soon anyway. You won’t get in trouble. The government does NOT have our best interests at heart, all they care about is the economy.
I’m pulling mine out. The virus is spreading like wildfire. Better safe then sorry.

Bluebell121 · 15/03/2020 21:16

Yeah am pulling them , it wasn't so much my younger it was older since they decided to keep schools open didn't no if I would be fined

I’m sending my kids in to school and nursery. There’s not reason not to at this point.

DingleberryRose · 15/03/2020 21:27

You will be fined, your older child legally has to attend school.

Pluckedpencil · 15/03/2020 21:38

Take them out and lie if needs be, just say health reasons. You are the least of their problems.

I understand people are putting on Facebook that there kids have a bad cough and can't breath but hospital won't see them telling them to self isolate they kid can't breath! My Friend son has had a temp of 39.7 for 2 days and doctor only came out today to tell her to open her door and fan him which is highly advised not to do or you could give them chills he's only 1 year old , she went to hospital becuase he couldn't keep awake WASNT eating drinking or weeing they made him out a mask on I'm petrified if I let them go to school because kids are slowly getting it now

Didnt your child 'cough'today.... if worried self isolate ;)

In all seriousness tho I think everyone is going to have enough on their hands getting back to normal without wasting man hours handing out fines...m

Bol87 · 16/03/2020 07:23

Don’t underestimate the fines, the government will be delighted to get a nice pot of money from all the parents pulling their kids out early.

Unless they have an underlying condition, just send them until they do eventually close. It won’t be long. There’s a very low risk to children & socially distance yourself at home. Then you don’t have much chance of spreading it.

If you do pull them now, then be responsible. You socially distance for the entire time, including once the schools close officially. You don’t take them out to the cinema or shops or any crowded places because they are bored. And let’s face it, our kids are going to climb the walls with all this. There was a group of parents who’d pulled their kids outta school in a cafe I went to for lunch on Friday.. ermm, no. If they aren’t in school, you don’t bring a big group of them to a crowded public place (full of oldies I might add). It’s not a holiday!

I’ve removed my year 7 today as my DP has lung a lung disease and has been asked to work from home.

Anyone know of any online resources that can be used until the schools close and can set their own online learning? I’ve looked at inter high?

Thank you
