Talk to me about reusable nappies

With all the panic buying nappies are flying off the shelves where i live and even though I am stocked up at the moment I'm worried I'm going to get caught out. Considering reusable nappies. Never used them before so have no idea where to start. My little girl is nearly 8 months old and currently in size 3s. Can anyone helped me with where to start looking and best ones to buy etc? Thank you!

try here, you might want disposable liners here, you put them in the nappy to make changing easier. throw the liner away and then put the nappy in the wash.

Reusables are a great idea, you’ll never run out again!
I bought a mixed load second hand from an nct nearly new sale, fb local groups are good for second hand nappies too.
I used a lidded bucket lined with a net bag and the whole thing went in the washer, I just swung the bag in. Apart from tipping the worst of the poo into the loo I didn’t need to do anything more than with a disposable, except the wash was quite long, I did a short rinse and then my machine has a really long eco wash - yours may be quicker. Always came out totally clean.

I can't tell you much yet as the baby won't be born until the summer but I have naught a starter pack from little lambs. They look good, I have one of each type of reusable nappy to try before making a big investment. I also have bought cheeky wipes which have come highly recommended by family and friends.

I've also looked at a lot of YouTube videos on how to wash them etc. And also have been told there are nappy libraries around where you can have a look/try before you buy.

You need a system. And about 25 nappies. My system is this:

1 bucket for dirty nappies (1)
1 bucket for once washed nappies (2)

Extra pooey stuff gets washed into the loo, and all dirty nappies go into bucket 1. At the end of each day i do a short wash with laundry powder then put the nappies into bucket 2.
Every two days i do a wash of bucket 2, which is at 60 degrees and with laundry liquid.

You'll need a wet bag for when you're out and about. I got mine on Amazon amongst the camping section.

Microfiber liners dry a lot more quickly than bamboo ones, and are just as effective in my eyes.

I still use disposables at night.

Happy to answer any questions you have

I found a good website last night OP. TotsBots - they have some videos and I've invested in a nappy system for when the baby is here (to be on the safe side and I also like the idea of non-disposable nappies) I got a bucket with a liner for washing, 12 day nappies all in one (I have some liners already) and 5 night time nappies.
