People stock buying baby milk

I've been to local supermarkets, boots and where I am people are buying it all. All out of stock due to corona virus.
I dont want to join the panic, but looking like I'm going to have to, my baby has milk for the next 3 weeks, but do you think its going to get worse, will the milk run out?,

Will they eventually shut shops down? Or do you think it will be in constant supply? Just really worried.

Shes 8 months old and is eating proper food but not enough to keep her strong. At that playing and learning stage

It's available on Amazon

GummyGoddess · 14/03/2020 20:33

If it comes to it, what about any friends that are still breastfeeding? They could maybe see about expressing a bit if they are able. I'd do it if a friend needed me to.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 14/03/2020 20:34

It's ridiculous! We bought a couple of boxes before things went mental and now our local supermarkets don't have any formula or nappies in her size, DD is 3 months old, people can be so selfish!

Follow on milk is essentially the same as first milk. I stopped BF and started giving formula at 7 months and did give her the first milk to begin with (not sure why? Tired confused brain?!) but ended up comparing the back of two tins one shopping trip and there is no difference. This was comparing Aldi Mamia tubs, but she has Aptamil at nursery.
Hope you manage to find some, and the people with tiny babies too!
For anyone not able to find wipes, try the cheeky wipes reusables website. We have a set of the bamboo velour (their most gentle version) and tbh they’re way better than normal baby wipes anyway, especially for poo explosions!

Nammech111 · 15/03/2020 05:10

I'm gonna go looking today for hungrier babies. If not I'm going to get follow on. If then in the future I find the milk I'm after and someone is in need I have them.
I think shops are re stocking but it's going as soon as they hit the shelves.
I cant seem to get it online

Same in our area. I had to buy 5 tubs just to cover us! What area are you OP if you are close I have a tub of cow and gate stage 1

Nammech111 · 15/03/2020 06:22

Thanks , I guess I'm looking for confirmation that it will constantly be re stocked and even in lockdown (which is very likely) that I can still get baby milk. Time will tell and good luck to everyone, even without babies, just general food shopping. Shelves are empty

@UsernameUnknownn I'm north wales. Thanks very much, I think I'm okay for now. We and my partner are going to do a quick search today and got my family all looking.

My mum went in to sainsbury and sold out but over heard them saying 2 tubs of baby milk to each customer.

Oh I'm far from there anyway. Good luck trying to get some. Iceland sell it too but it's a bit more pricey. Calpol has been cleared off the shelves too!

Chinks123 · 15/03/2020 19:24

There was none on the shelves today in the three supermarkets I checked..I have my mum on the hunt

loveautum · 15/03/2020 20:24

@Nammech111 I've checked on amazon and Kendalmill a British company supplying formula is available about £12 for a tin of the power. There is some ridiculous pricing of the more popular brands.

Nammech111 · 15/03/2020 20:27

I went shopping today and was told they are now limiting people to two tubs, which I'm a lot happier about. Most supermarkets re stock over night so maybe if we get there early enough we can pick some up.

@Chinks123
Boots have told me two week delivery wait so supermarkets now are best bet. Hopefully when people calm down they will carry on stocking as usual

I have a 7 week old baby, I am also struggling to get formula. I have 1 full tub. Which will last just over a week. Terrifying

UsernameUnknownn · 15/03/2020 21:43

Apparently not sure if it is true if you can't get hold of formula apparently you can ring 111 and they will get a pharmacy to give you some. Not sure it's 100% true though!

Cherry85 · 16/03/2020 00:24

Waitrose online still has it. We just got 5 boxes today.

Charlottejade89 · 16/03/2020 16:07

I've heard through a colleague of my mums who's a midwife that if you ring the number on the tin of formula they can send you some directly from the factory. Not sure if that's right but worth a go?

Nammech111 · 16/03/2020 16:40

I've managed to get some formula so I'm more comfortable now. I think I can now shop as normal. But yes I've heard the same about the back of the tin and heard that the chemist will order it In.

They are not limiting people to two so we should all be able to do regular shops, assuming if we go into lockdown we can still go out for essentials.

Glad you got some op! My mum managed to find me some at Tesco so I’m relaxed (a little)
I did hear a mum in the playground say she’d driven to nine supermarkets to find milk for her newborn dd, and was in tears Sad

Nammech111 · 16/03/2020 18:44

@chinks123 . That is horrendous. Honestly so sad to see what everyone is doing. I have a decent supply now and gonna take it week by week. Glad you got some as well. As long as our kids are okay through all this thats all we want.

Thing that’s really annoying/selfish are the parents who are bulk buying baby milk. Why are they not thinking of the next parent who will come along needing milk for their little one and can’t get any. Especially for the babies who are only on formula as to young for weaning🤦🏼‍♀️

elf1985 · 16/03/2020 20:56

Apparently if you contact the number on the back of the box they will send you a supply at the moment.

itsamadmadworld · 16/03/2020 21:17

Came on here to say the same as @elf1985 I've just been told the same by somebody. I have enough formula to last maybe three weeks, which is normal for me, and my mum has a couple of tubs as back up but I'm going to try and get a couple more just as back up. Luckily my daughter only has a few bottles a day if we give her snacks so that should stretch it out a bit.
