Age to go park

What age would you let a child go to the park alone, crossing 2 roads. Just wondering what age people allowed theirs to go? With siblings of similar age

Depends.

How busy are the roads?
Do they have crossings?
If they have crossings, do you trust dcs to use them or are they likely to take a shortcut?

If quiet roads with clear crossings, I'd be ok with a 10 year old. If a group, I'd be ok with the youngest being 8 as long as there were older children in the group as well.

I'd be happier if at least one person had a phone and it would also depend on sibling dynamics - e.g. are any of them likely to strop off?

There are no crossings, I wouldn’t say they are busy.

Depends on how busy the park is, whether they have a mobile phone, how mature they are, how busy the road is and 20 other variables I could list.

There is a reason there is no legal age for kids staying home. It is because every child and scenario is different and as parents who know them best we make judgement calls considering the relevant factors.

FWIW DS1 has been going to the park with his friends since he was 7 but we are in Austria where that is normal.

My kids are 9 and 6 and they get a public bus across the city to go to school alone.

It’s really hard to judge because people say such different things, we live in London and because of our area kids don’t play out so wondering when they can have abit of freedom
