WWYD - Baby Formula

Long story short, after multiple trips to the GP for discomfort after feeds/straining/crying while trying to go no 2, LOwas put on Nutramigen Puramino, I think more to placate me than anything. Anyway, I'm sure she doesn't have a milk allergy or anything because she had no symptoms, and I feel like the Nutramigen is giving her bad trapped wind and making her worse. I'm supposed to keep her on the Nutramigen for another 2 weeks (she's already been on it 1.5 weeks) before going in for a review, but I'm thinking of just putting her back onto the formula she was previously on (HiPP Comfort). I'm a FTM, so really unsure about this, and my docs are completely useless. I can't stand seeing her in so much discomfort anymore, and don't know what to do!

I should add, she's also on a low dose of Omeprazole for silent reflux which seems to work for her. I'm pretty sure she just has ongoing Infant Dyschezia, after a phone call to 111 on Monday, which will eventually right itself.

Omperazole can cause wind has it been going on a similar time? Change in milk I was told can take 8 weeks for dairy to be fully out system. Poor thing I remember it well

Her wind has always been an issue, but its gotten really bad since she started on the Nutramigen, when she was on the HiPP comfort she farted like a trooper, but she seems to struggle getting it out on this formula

When mine started nutramigen at about 6 weeks i felt she got worse with poops being formed and hard to pass & ended up on neocate eventually. All in all though every change took time and I often felt it got worse before it got better. have you been referred to dietitian? Ours really gave a new perspective and helped loads if it's all tummy related it seems like you might benefit from thier assessment and knowledge.

Her poops have always been soft, if not runny, and she always goes at least every other day, but is constantly straining throughout the day. We've been referred to a general paediatrician, but that's not til the end of April, and our HV is supposed to be referring to a dietician re weaning, but we're not seeing her for another week so no idea when that referral will be.

I have this problem too. My baby is on Lactogen and always has bad wind and purple around the mouth. She had this problem with breastfeeding too. I'm not sure how to deal with it as I'm doing everything I can to prevent it.

I think it might just be something they have to learn to grow out of unfortunately! DD hasn't been too bad with her wind over the last couple of days (I made the decision to change her back onto the comfort milk) but she's still really bad overnight. She usually starts stirring every hour or so at the end of each sleep cycle and starts straining to get her wind out. She sometimes manages, most of the time I have to bicycle her legs a bit as best I can when she's in her sleeping bag, but she'll settle back down if I pop her dummy back in. She usually gets a good few farts out herself around 6ish for some reason 😂
