Hi! Its my sons first birthday soon and am unsure what to get him for a present or how to celebrate! Just wondering what everyone else did? x

On the actual day, we went to a local farm/softplay and went out for tea! At the weekend, we had a little family party. It was really nice, we all enjoyed the celebrations & it wasn’t too stressful!

Present wise, we bought books, a few new toys to match her interests, a teepee .. and obviously lots of bits from other people. One set of Grandparents bought her a slide, the other a paddling pool..

Mine is going to childcare on the day as normal. On the Sunday after we are having grandparents over for lunch and a trip to the park.
He's getting a new sling for his birthday because he's massive and I can't use the buggy to take him to childcare.

I went overboard but....

On his birthday I planned soft play but he was sick just as we got there so we had to come back home (a two bus journey). But I got him a trike (that he hates), a ball pit (that he loves), a comforter, a toy and a bunch of books as he adores me reading to him. I organised a tiny get together with some mum friends and we had tea and cake.

The next week I took him to soft play and we had a wonderful time and I got him some new shoes.

I went overboard in terms of price, the trike was insanely expensive and he hates it.

We went to a zoo with grandparents and aunt/uncle. I get corporate passes through my work so it cost about £10 to hire enough. Then back to ours for cake. His presents were a ride on rocking caterpillar, some clothes and a musical Teletubby toy. Grandparents got a slide and walker toy.

Farm park/soft play place and then a birthday tea with cake and jelly!

Present-wise, our family went totally OTT so we didn't get her that much ourselves because she had a ridiculous pile if gifts, but we got her a little touch piano, which she LOVES, some books, and some helium balloons, which were another big hit! also a little trike for when she's bigger.

Her absolute favourite gift though was a set of nursery rhyme finger puppets from my mum. She brings them to me multiple times a day and I have to put them on and sing the appropriate song! She also really loves her Pocket Noah's Ark from
Jojo Maman Bebe.

It's a little cold here at moment for anywhereike the zoo or outdoor things but maybe an aquarium would be a good idea?

Yesterdayforgotten · 04/03/2020 16:21

We also just did fancy cupcakes instead of a cake which worked out better

Yesterdayforgotten · 04/03/2020 16:21

Maybe a ride on for a gift or something similar

For DDs first birthday we had family!my round at the house for a small tea party and will probably do the same for DS when he turns 1 in a couple of months. As for presents I got a keepsake bear made from her baby clothes, admittedly that's more for me than her. Will likely do the same for DS.
