I have to go down to London tomorrow (leaving 4am for the train, back by 5pm latest) and it's the longest I've ever been away from my baby. She's exactly 4 months, and she'll be with DH who is now her primary parent (we swapped last week) but she's EBF and while she can take a bottle she's not at all reliable. Ive expressed and there's tonnes in the freezer, DH has a lovely plan for their day and she prefers him to me most of the time anyway, but I'm so anxious about leaving them! Any similar experiences or success stories to cheer me up?

Is this serious?

ivfbabymomma1 · 01/03/2020 19:12

It may seem difficult but it will go quickly as your busy, you'll get a lovely smile when you return and then next time you won't feel so anxious leaving her!!

@sluj don't be a dick!

OP I get you, I would've been the exact same. I bet she takes the milk no problem when you're not there. She will be absolutely fine ❤

Totally normal to be anxious being away from your baby for that long. We have strong evolutionary urges to stay close. But I'm sure she'll be fine, and so will you. First time I was away from mine for any length of time despite expectations I found I quite enjoyed being able to just concentrate on one thing at a time!

@sluj sorry, am i missing something here?

Deep breaths, you can totally handle this and once you've done it the first time it'll be even easier the next time.

I left mine for almost that long to go to a concert when she was 2 months old. It was great! Weird how quickly I got used to not having her with me. She was fine. She too preferred the breast then, but took enough milk to keep her going, then her little face when I got back and she woke up and realised she was getting boob not bottle 😂😍

Make sure you take a pump though and use it regularly. My boobs were like rocks when I got back even with 2 pumping sessions.

What is a primary parent age why did you swap?
She will be fine op, just trust your dh and try to enjoy the time away.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 01/03/2020 20:01

@bobstersmum primary parent as in main care giver - we swapped because i went back to work. I trust him completely, he's incredible with her, I'm just worried about her being hungry or missing me or something unpredictable. Probably just being a wuss, but my heart hurts thinking about it!
