Hi,

Has anyone used a breathing sensor? Are they any good?

I've used one with my son from birth, still use it now even tho he's 21months old. Everyone tells me that we didn't ever need one but I wouldn't off been without it

Cherry85 · 08/03/2020 01:25

@Hill1991 do you have to turn it on and off every time you take them out the cot? Even if just settling them or changing a nappy?

@Cherry85 yes you do they go off if they don't detect breathing after 20s you get an alarm

I bought the snuzza hero last week. It clips on the nappy. So far it's been fab !wish I'd bought one sooner xx

Cherry85 · 13/03/2020 18:13

@Newmum2b78 we have literally just bought the same. Arrived today so will try in room with us tonight.

It's been brilliant. We've used it in our room to make sure it works before she goes into her own. It's quite comforting seeing the light flashing ! X

DivGirl · 13/03/2020 19:29

Yep - used the snuza hero until DS started taking it off in the middle of he night and handing it to me. I barely slept until it arrived. Easily my best purchase.

We got a 'new'one on ebay but I am not convinced it is new. Did yours have much packaging?
Ours literally had the box and cardboard insert... quick guide sheet and snuza in plastic case... does that sound right?

No cellophane or anything? I dont want to use a second hand one (probably silly) as wont know it's up to scratch.

Can you let me know what yours had lol

Ours just had a box, a couple of leaflets, and the actual monitor was in a plastic box. We got it new so it's sounds about right. One thing I will say is when you turn it on make sure it's on a flat surface first. Don't flip it to the nappy and turn on, it will just keep flashing red !!

skinnymarshmallow · 13/03/2020 19:58

I had an angelcare. Couldn't fault it. Went off once when my dd was 6 days old. Snatched her up and she was fine. No idea whether she had stopped or just to light to detect it but Midwife said that sometimes newborns forget to breathe. Gave me peace of mind

stophuggingme · 13/03/2020 20:09

Yes with all three
Angelcare and snuza they are fantastic imo

Cherry85 · 13/03/2020 21:46

@Newmum2b78 what do you do when changing nappies? Do you have to turn it off and on each time or can you take the nappy off and let it beep then stick it on the new one and it will stop again?

Turning it off seems the trickiest bit!

OP posts:
DivGirl · 13/03/2020 22:27

I never really really changed nappies overnight but it won't stop beeping if you take it off and put it back on, you need to reset/recalibrate it.

You could take it off and tap it once very couple of seconds, or attach it to your sleeve while you changed the baby.

Cherry85 · 14/03/2020 07:27

Last question 🤣🙈 does yours feel quite warm when you take it off in the morning?

Thanks for all your help!!

OP posts:
Newmum2b78 · 14/03/2020 08:11

Yes, it's just the heat of their bodies. Hope you had a decent nights sleep, or were you busy watching the light ?!! X

Cherry85 · 14/03/2020 09:17

We had it on whilst baby was upstairs before we went to bed to test it but took it off when we came up as it was quite warm.

He is only 6weeks and sleeps well but is so freaking loud with his wee noises I havent slept properly in weeks.

Got the alarm done can maybe try putting him in his room next door earlier than planned as he loves his big cot but hates the side sleeper and always ends up coming in with me.

It's scary tho cos all advice is six months but he said if no one is comfortable then get an alarm and try it.... I'm paranoid tho.
