Weaning - 9 month old still won’t eat

Please help...I have twin girls who are currently 9.5 months old, I started weaning them at 6 months. Neither of them ate anything really until 8 months old when one day one of them just started eating and now eats 3 meals a day and will eat anything and everything.

However the other STILL will not eat anything. Feeding time is a nightmare, she will not open her mouth for any food, she throws herself backwards to get away from the spoon.
I’ve tried giving her the spoon with food on it this just ends up on the floor, I’ve given her finger food and she doesn’t attempt to eat it. It always ends in tears.
She has on a very rare occasion fed herself some toast, and has a couple of times accepted a couple of mouthfuls of yogurt.
When I have managed to get any food in her mouth she seems to like it, but getting it in there is mission impossible.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? I’m just looking for some reassurance really that she will one day eat food.
Should I take her to the doctors or ring the HV? I’m not sure what the could do for a baby who won’t open their mouth. TIA.

Just keep putting finger food in front of her and let her play with it.

My 13 month old doesn't eat either. He had a milk aversion which we resolved at 7 months, but he wont take to food. He will happily put all finger foods in his mouth, but feeding therapist thinks from watching that when a lump moves further back in his mouth, he gets upset and spits it out. He wont allow a spoon near him and wont feed himself with one either. Weve been referred for to tongue tie assessment but they think its behavioural and that we just need to continue the no pressure and lots of finger food varieties. (No he doesn't eat even if he's effectively starved all day).

Make sure your HV/paed/gp is well briefed and ask for help. It's not urgent yet at 8 months.

We're being switched to high calorie formula to help maintain weight. My LO is still having night feeds and waking frequently, but we cant wean because he cant take enough milk in the day.
