After birth hip pain

Posting here as there is no group for after birth ailments lol

My hips have aches since having a baby 3 months go, it feels like I need to have a right good stretch of the ligaments and o do find myself straightening my legs and rolling my hips to get a bit of relief.

I did have a bit of trouble with pelvic pain when pregnant and my hips did click, Will it ever return to how it was before pregnancy or (along with my new body) are these my new hips?

Definitely worth seeing a chiropractor. I had SPD during pregnancy, to the point that I couldn’t work (I have a very active job) and the chiropractor was the only thing that worked to give me any relief. She said I may need further treatment after birth as sometimes your pelvis is still slightly misaligned post birth but I have been lucky. But I’m still seeing her for back/shoulder issues.
I was really skeptical at first but was amazed at how much she helped so I’d definitely give one a try for your problem.

Are you breastfeeding? If so the relaxin hangs around even longer (though I think it still hangs around for a good few months even if not breastfeeding) and keeps the ligaments stretchy. It was one reason why although cosleeping was a necessity for my son, I found it very uncomfortable still having to sleep in a fixed position all night and my hips and shoulders would get very sore. I did get a referral to a physio from the GP though really what was needed was time, and yes it did get better

I had hip pain for 7 years

Saw consultants and physios regularly but no one actually looked at me.

When the pain got so bad I couldn’t sleep i went back to my gp who said I could see a private osteopath

Within in 15 minutes of my first appointment she told me hip pain can be deferred pain from the back

She looked at my back and immediately saw bones sticking out where bones shouldn’t stick out.

Turns out I had slipped a disc and had been walking/shuffling around for 7 years in agony.

Definitely see an osteopath who actually examines you and looks at you.

Ask to be referred to a physio. You may only need to ring the GP receptionist and explain the situation.

Fab thank you I’ll do that

Also try sleeping with a pillow between your legs.
