Hi everyone!
My 14 month old has eczema due to a dairy allergy (which we are managing with creams, diet, etc) . My question is that it seems to have flared up a fair bit over the last couple of weeks, perhaps due to the cold weather... any ideas on how he should be dressed for bedtime to not affect his skin?
He is an excellent sleeper, room temp is usually around 21 before we turn heating off but then goes to around 16 degrees throughout night which feels really cold in his room. He wears a vest with pyjamas and blanket over (not sleeping bag, doesn't like it).... should we drop the vest to allow skin to air? I'm afraid of him being too cold as he kicks his blanket off throughout the night? Or maybe he prefers?? Sorry to sound weird- hope this makes sense!! SmileConfusedWink
Thanks in advance!! X

Are there certain places it's flaring up? Just thinking if it not on his tummy keep the best but go for one without poppers as its more airy. Then just a bagger fit rather than the skinny fit type.

My DD is the same, eczema due to CMPA. Make sure his pyjamas, blankets etc are 100% cotton if at all possible, it really does help. Also important is to wash them in a mild non-bio detergent. I found bathing too often aggravated her skin too so she only has a bath every second day at the absolute most. And finally make sure he's not getting dairy somewhere in his diet, no amount of creams etc would do half as much for my Dd's skin as keeping dairy out of her diet achieves Smile

Thanks guys! We bath him every night in Oilatum per doctors advice (ages ago) so maybe we'll try every other night to give his skin a rest Smile

Are you bathing him following the three minute rule? If not, bathing will be detrimental but if you do it this way, in my experience, it makes a massive difference.

I’d keep the pjs as you are currently doing. I doubt removing the vest will make much difference and a good nights sleep is important too!

I’d drop the oilatum though and just bathe in water and moisturise afterwards.

Hi. Defo reduce bath to every other night. We use hydramol in the bath and as a moisturiser. Really good. No need to wash off, just reapply.
