Daughter 3 with wild curly hair help!!

My daughter who is 3 has crazy wild curly hair I brush it every night before bed and she wakes up and it's matted every day without fail. I brush her hair and put it up for nursery and she comes home when I take it out same thing it's matted.
Iv been using detangling spray but just makes her hair sticky I think.
Does anyone know of any tips or hair brushes that are best to use as she cries and hates having her hair brushed. I hate brushing it because I know it hurts her.

For a start, stop brushing it, you're making it worse! My hair is curly and my ds2 is curly and long, nearly down to his bottom but I only brush it once or twice a week, just before washing. I then use a tangle teaser and some water spray just before we wash it with 2 in 1 for kids. I'll try and find a picture.

Ds2 is 4 by the way, so I know how much hassle it is! Confused

Definitely invest in a tangle teaser. Saved us hours of tears and struggle when Dd was little. She still only uses them now at 19.

Buy curly specific products. Probably doesn’t need washed that often, always use lots of conditioner, only comb out when wet. I found aunt jackies stuff amazing for curly hair, including the detangling stuff. Do you put it up at night time? Probably better to do that as well, mine always then sits better with a spray of water and some hair cream or conditioner in it the next morning. Both my daughter and I have curly hair. Also never use a hairdryer unless with a diffuser 😀 I normally air dry my hair.

Rule number 1 - You do not brush dry curly hair ever You comb it preferably with a wide tooth comb and when damp.

Some detangling sprays aren't right for some curly hair types so it is better and cheaper to make your own. I use conditioner and water on my LO but other people make their own concoctions which can include other ingredients like oils.

As curly hair can vary the best thing for me to do is redirect you to www.naturallycurly.com Then first look at the hair typing section to work out what type of curls your LO has. Then start reading sections of the site relevant to the curl type.

If you work out your LO has fine curly hair regardless of curl type make sure you get it trimmed regularly to get rid of split ends as it will make it easier to comb.

Have a read up on the curly girl method (CGM). If you're in the UK there is an excellent Facebook group called Little CGs UK. Great advice on methods and products. Bear in mind lots of products are marketed for curly hair but can be very drying and make matters worse. CGM will keep you right on that front. Say goodbye to matted hair and tearful brushing sessions! Good luck!

I have 3 curlies. Do not brush only use a wide tooth comb. We follow the cgm as do I. We use XHC, garner blends (almond) and Boots own brand fruity ones conditioner only. On waking I spray with a little conditioner mixed with water and comb it gently to remove knots. I may apply a little cantu custard. That’s it, avoid detangling sprays they dry the hair combine with brushing creates frizz.

His hair is absolutely gorgeous @Swifey40. Has it ever been cut?

@pennow iv got a tangle teaser only use them on her as other brushes are impossible. @Swifey40 if If I leave it literally a matted ball in the mornings where she rubs her head a comfort thing it is so crazy my mums got really curly hair but iv never felt with it personally so i don't know how to tame the beast! Lol
