Double Buggy?

DS2 is due in May, at which point DS1 will be 26m. DS1 will be in nursery 2-3 days per week. I walk a lot and have a medium sized car, but I also get public transport a lot as I live in London. DS1 only naps in the pushchair (even at home).

With DS1 I used my Silver Cross Wayfarer travel system for the first year (and he spent a lot of time in the sling), in the second year I bought a Joie Pact pushchair for holiday and loved it so much I used it as my main pushchair. It's really light, folds easily,

I figured I would switch between:
A) DS2 in sling, DS1 in the Pact (pushchair)
B) DS2 in the Wayfarer carrycot (travel system), DS1 on a buggy board seat
depending if we were out over DS1's naptime or not. And then see how it goes, maybe get a lightweight double later.

But after a year of heavily abusing the Pact (which is not designed for this really!) it's just broken and now I don't know what to do. I'll need something for our Summer holiday in September - last time DS1 slept for hours in the Pact with a snooze shade and it was so relaxing!

So do I buy a new lightweight single now and potentially have to replace it with a double when DS2 arrives, or do I bite the bullet and buy a double now and save money in the long run? If I do get a double, do I just get a cheapy Joie Aire Twin or splash out on a Mountain Buggy Duet or something? I think it'd have to be a side by side for the nap situation.

By May your older DC routines and naps will have changed again, you may not need a double. If you decide to go for one I would recommend the out and about nipper - I have 18 months between my dc, but dd dropped her nap just after the baby was born, meaning I don’t use it as much as I hd planned to. I have found out and about I make use of the sling and shopping trolleys a lot!
