Too late to swaddle?

Hi, our DS is 4 weeks old and was originally swaddled but since we came home has been under a blanket sleeping with arms up.

He has been quite unsettled these past few nights and I was wondering about swaddling again but will it work if he is not used to it? Any tips?

I have seen a jojo swaddle that has the arms up position but dont want to waste money if it's unlikely to be any use.

It might be worth trying a sleeping bag (ensuring you get a newborn one and that he meets the minimum weight stated for the particular bag).

At a similar age DD kept waking up cold under her blanket so I ended up switching to sleeping bags (a grobag) earlier than planned.

My DS is just over 3 weeks and was really unsettled and not sleeping over the weekend so we swaddled and he's much better now. We have arms-down swaddles and he doesn't mind it. It's definitely helped. Maybe try a cheaper option, something from Amazon maybe?

We swaddled after a few weeks with DC2. Worked wonders and continued to about 4 months Smile
We got ours from amazon-pack of 3 grey ones x

My son never got on with swaddling. He started to become unsettled because his arms would touch the side of the Moses basket; we moved him into the compact cot at the end of my bed when he was 4 weeks old and he instantly seemed more settled as he had more space.

Do you mean this one? We introduced it at a similar age and found it made a big difference www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0081GJ038/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_2KfuEbBW2DJGP?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

@Saltisford can I ask what you did for warmth as it is only 1 tog? Did you put more layers underneath or a blanket on top?

I think the gro company make a grosnug, which from memory can hold their arms down, or up, or they can have them fre and it can be used like a sleeping bag. They do a cosy one which would be more suitable at this time of year. I never used them as I discovered them too late and my daughter was in to sleeping bags but my friend did.

No! I started swaddling that late. Used white noise too and a couple sleeping crib and Hurrah the baby slept! It was amazing.

We started using those love to dream swaddle ups recently.
Probably at around 9 weeks.

Our opinion, they're brilliant.

Rip off new though so buy 2nd hand when I see them.

Oh my god- first night in a love to dream swaddle and so far he is silent. A few cries earlier on but no grunty animal noises, looks settled for the first time in weeks. I am actually scared to write this incase he senses it and wakes up lol!
