The logistics of three children

This is a bit premature, but I'm planning no3 for next year. It occured to me I'm going to have to get one to school, one to nursery and manage a newborn - if that is what happens. Is this a sensible idea? possible? How do people cope?

ah you see, there is reason in the madness of giving birth thrice in 2.5 years. they'll all be at the same school for most of the school career [lazy cow emoticon]

a good sling is a marvellous thing

well it has to be said this morning is going rahther better than expected - DS3 asleep in his bouncy chair (could have got him dressed earlier if I'd had to but as it's only DS1 next door to school not bothered), DS1 up, showered, dressed, breakfasted and his packed lunch made, DS2 had breakfast and still in his PJ's.....BUT seen as though we wouldn't have to leave the house until 8.45 and I've taken my sweet time about it feeling slightly more relaxed about getting all 3 of them up and dressed in a few weeks time

Agree with everything here but just wanted to add that I found the first year with one in school, one at nursery and a new baby really tiring as I was either walking to and from the school or feeding a baby at home. There wasn't much time for anything else. Now ds2 is 2 I am feeling a lot more organised about having three (have done for the past year really) and it is lots of fun and mostly nicer than two .

here's how we do it in the week: 3 kids, aged 5, 3 and 4 months

Previous night - lay out clothes for everyone, check bags ready to go
Awake at 6.30 - feed baby
Shower at 7.00 (baby on floor in bathroom), DH leaves for work, older kids wake, go downstairs to watch tv and drink juice left out by DH, I dry my hair and get dressed by 7.30
Breakfast ongoing between 7.30-8ish, do make up while kids eating, feed baby again if required.
8-8.30 kids brush teeth and get dressed
Out to school at 8.30

On the weekend it all goes to pot and takes forever, can't quite work out why but it takes about three times longer!
